I'm in college. I live on campus. I like my roommate. We spend a lot of time together. Turns out, when you spend a lot of time with a person, you start to notice their little habits. You notice the strange things they do that you'd never notice otherwise. You see a human do things you didn't even know humans did, and you have interactions that you'd never have with anyone if you didn't spend hundreds of hours with them. I love my roommate.
I'm in college. I live on campus. I miss my cat. I'm a cat person, and my kitty might be the thing I miss most when I'm away at school. When I'm home, I spend a lot (maybe too much) time with my cat. I talk to her all the time, we make eye contact, I notice the stupid things she does, and she shows me affection in such special ways. I love my cat.
Okay. Here's the horrifying part: I'm starting to see clear resemblances between my roommate and my cat. Feel free to leave in the comments whether or not I'm crazy.
1. Sometimes I pet her.
Whatever. Don't judge. Everyone likes their hair to be played with. Don't pretend like you don't too.
2. When I'm laying on the floor she usually comes over to see what's wrong with me/why I'm not paying attention to her.
And sometimes she lays down too.
3. If she sits in one spot for too long, she stands up, stretches, repositions and sits back down in the exact same spot.
Just because, I guess.
4. If I'm not paying attention to her when she thinks I should be, she somehow finds her way onto my chair or directly in front of my face.
She's very subtle.
5. She likes to be cozy, nestled in a big blanket, holding a pillow.
Sometimes she holds pillows just to be holding a pillow.
6. When she needs to exit real life for a little while, she retreats to spaces you wouldn't think she'd be able to fit in.
It's honestly a little weird to see how small she can get when she wants.
7. It's good fun to *mildly* annoy her.
...mildly...
8. She'll be sitting in a chair, then randomly turn into liquid.
The cat dimension is real, and sometimes I think my roommate enters it.
9. There is shed hair everywhere in our room.
To be fair, it might not all be hers...
10. Sometimes she just wants to be left alone...
...And sometimes I have a hard time taking that hint.
