Friends are such a gift to us who help us through thick and thin. Building friendships are not often hard to do, but what is difficult is learning who the true ones are. We all have that one friend who we call our best friend that knows us inside and outside. Your best friend is your partner in crime, confidant, and overall your missing piece. Here are just a few of many ways that you know they are your best friend.
The All Caps Texting
Whether it be about a hot guy, a fun new experience, some girl who is just trying to push your limits, or just excitement to be talking to them, an all caps text will usually follow. This pretty much happens on a daily basis.
Calling Each Other Out
Regular friends will usually give relatively good advice, but leave it to your best friend to not hold back. They will not sugarcoat anything or let you make bad decisions. They allow you to see both sides of the situation before letting you make a choice, and they have no problems putting you in your place when you act out. Their motive to do this is because they believe that some tough love will take the friendship even farther.
They Deal with Your Love for Chicken Nuggets
Let’s be real here people, chicken nuggets are the key to a happy life. Your best friend will understand how much you love them, and never deny that a 10 piece from Burger King for $1.49 isn’t the best deal they have ever heard. If they are your real best friend, they will even drive you there to get some.
You Share a Common Interest That Everyone Else Judges You for
A common interest could be makeup, fashion, sports, and even music. Your best friend will be your ride or die through even the craziest things, even if that means a huge One Direction phase. I am not just talking about buying the albums or jamming out to their songs in the car. I am talking about waiting outside of the concert venue for 6+ hours, spending thousands of dollars over the course of a few years just to see them in concert, and did I mention waiting outside of their hotel in North Carolina until 4 or 5 in the morning? Some people call it obsessed, we would prefer to call it dedicated. Your best friend will never judge you because they are usually beside you doing it as well.
Reading Each Other’s Facial Expressions
Best friends will talk all day nonstop if we were allowed to, but often enough best friends don’t even need to use words. Just a glimpse at each other’s face will say more than words ever could. Reading each other’s facial expressions allow for a conversation not to be needed, and also allows for both to speak to each other about a certain someone even if a that someone is standing in the room as well.
Walking Right into Their House
Who needs to knock on the door when walking right in is an even better option? Your best friend’s house is also considered your house as well. This is where you can raid the refrigerator, lay around wherever, and come in and out whenever you please. Also, 90 percent of the time they don’t know you’re coming over in the first place.
Making Plans with Their Family
Not only is your best friend like your family anyway, you consider their parents and siblings yours as well. You would do anything for their family because they mean that much to you. This includes hanging out with their family even when they are not there. Target runs, TJ Maxx trips, and Pokémon hunts are just a few of your regular activities with them.
Answering Their Annoying Questions Time After Time Again
We all have that one friend that takes 100 years to reply to your text no matter the urgency behind it. Whether it be an actual emergency or just random questions, they still play along no matter what.
Crying in Front of Them
Feeling vulnerable is the worst feeling, and for anyone to see you in that position makes the situation worse. In this case, you know she is your best friend when you can ugly cry in front of her. Whether it be about a breakup, your favorite celebrity starts dating Taylor Swift, or how cute the puppy video on YouTube was, they will always have your back.
Sitting Beside You in Jail
A true best friend will do crazy things with you and go on spontaneous adventures. They often are the ones that will beat you to your own idea, and be just as excited about it as you are. A true best friend will be there for you no matter what situation, but in this case they will be sitting beside you saying, “That was so much fun, let’s do it again!”
