Where you get to decide who you want to be.

10 Ways College Changes You

Maybe that is just my theory but I swear college changes people. You are finally out on your own and get to basically reinvent yourself. When your parents get done moving you into your freshman dorm, you give them a tearful hug and they drive off. Now what? Time to become who you really are!

1. You get to chose your future

Even though it seems like a small concept getting to choose your major is amazing. You can take a few classes in various subjects and then decide which best suits you.

2. You learn to speak up for yourself

This is the first time in your life that your parents are not there to defend you. In college you learn to stick up for your likes, your dislikes and what you want in live. College is where you find your voice.

3. You make new friends

In college you find your forever friends. The people that held your hair back on your twenty first birthday and the people that will stand beside you at your wedding.

4. You grow in your career

While your major is important, internships are equally as important. Internships allow you to try out different career and figure out what is best for you.

5. You learn to schedule like a pro

Suddenly everyone becomes obsessed with scheduling and rightfully so. With an average of 15 credits, a part-time job and a social life you must plan every minute of every day.

6. You realize your parents are your lifeline

Calls like these, "mom how do I cook broccoli?" or "dad how after should I be rotating my tires?" will occur way more than you think. Shout out to my parents!

7. You become financially savvy

Everyone makes jokes about being a broke college student, but it is so true. Somehow it feels like money disappears into thin air. You leave to make $15 last you for a weeks worth of food and a night out on the town, because #priorities.

8. You become well informed

Eventually becoming well informed does not just seem like a good idea, it becomes the norm. Small talking about politics, recents world events and even the weather happens everyday and it is best to be well informed.

9. You get involved

From the first day on campus when you attend the the activities fair to the moment you throw your cap in the air at graduation you learn to get involved. From joining a sports team, to signing up for a club or joining greek life getting involved is always for the best.

10. You learn what your version of fun is

Some people like going out every night and some people enjoy a quiet book in bed on a Friday night. During college you learn what is fun for you and no one judges you for it! Yay freedom to read a book in bed while everyone goes out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
