10 Unpopular Opinions from Reddit That Make Me Uncomfortable

I searched for unpopular opinions off of Reddit that I think truly are unpopular.

10 Unpopular Opinions from Reddit That Make Me Uncomfortable

Recently, Reddit's subreddit "unpopularopinion" has been filled with general opinions. I set out to find the ones that make me really go, "gross."

Someone out there enjoys wet socks?

Getting your socks wet is just awful. No further explanation.

Cereal with water instead of milk

I gagged a bit just by reading this, but at least you put the cereal first. The user also put a video of cereal with water after being requesting one by another user in disbelief.

Enjoying the restaurant staff singing Happy Birthday to them

You see, extrovert or introvert, people typically feel awkward when a random group of staff sings Happy Birthday for a whole restaurant to hear. Sure, I'm getting a little dessert to celebrate my birthday, but how am I supposed to act in this situation? But since it makes you happy, good for you and enjoy! It's still an unpopular opinion, though.

One-ply over two-ply

One-ply toilet paper tears easily. Two one-ply sheets does not have the same feeling as a two-ply sheet.

No water to brush your teeth

I put aside the "water before and/or after toothpaste" debate and assert that not putting water at all is the worst.

Body hair on everyone (including male) is gross

If hair disgusts you, I assume you also shave your head and eyebrows then (which is totally okay if someone chooses to shave those out of personal preference.) I think that the most unpopular part about this is that the user thinks that male body hair is also disgusting. Male body hair is typically seen as normal and manly. Despite the growing acceptance, female body hair is still widely seen as unacceptable.

Also, body hair is not the same as your body's waste. We don't look at someone going to the bathroom, but we also don't shame them for having to do what your body has to do. Hair naturally grows and the amount differs from person to person.

The egg shells can stay

While I am not completely disgusted or mad at this, most people try to get the little eggshell bits out of there. It's not right. Even after boiling an egg, we take off the eggshell.

Pour your milk into a cup of ice

This just brought an unpleasant taste. I have never had milk with ice, but I can already feel it being watery. Sure, you can drink it fast to prevent the ice from melting, but then it's not enjoyable to rush it.

Nightmares are better than good dreams

Maybe I'm just a big baby but nightmares scare me too much. They don't give me a good rush. They just leave me with scary thoughts in a dark room.

Bullying people with mental illness is okay

Basically, it says that instead of trying to help people, we should bully them out of their mental illness. While there are people who see mental illnesses as weakness (still quite a popular opinion), they don't blatantly agree that bullying is okay. With increasing awareness, bullying is frowned upon, mental illness or not.

Bonus: As if wet socks wasn't bad enough, we have wet sleeves being pleasant

Wet socks and wet sleeves are too similar, so this is a bonus because I just had to share it.

I truly cannot understand how some people are fine with wet fabric being stuck to their skin.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
