Unforgettable Moments Of "Hannah Montana"

It's been a decade since Miley brought us the best of both worlds, but we'll always remember her.

Last week was the ten year anniversary of the beginning of Hannah Montana. Now, I think I can speak for most late 90’s and early 2000 kids when I say that Hannah Montana was my childhood. I watched that show religiously. If it was Thursday night, you could bet I’d be sitting in front of the t.v. watching Miley go to school by day and perform concerts by night. And really, if you didn’t seriously consider moving to LA and becoming a secret pop-star, were you even a real Hannah Montana fan? To celebrate all that Miley/Hannah or Hiley/ Mannah ( they actually have cute ship names) gave us, here are 10 unforgettable HM moments.

1. When Lily found out that Miley was Hannah.

I get that being a undercover teenage pop-star is probably something you should keep on the down low, but how can you not tell your best friend! I literally tell my best friends everything, from my deepest fear to what I ate for breakfast. I give Miley props for keeping it in so long.

2. When you saw the Hannah closet for the first time. I was so obsessed with everything in the closet.

Jake Ryan set the bar way too high for guys everywhere when he did this. Sorry, but Miley was an idiot for pouring that strawberry shake all over his surfer boy blonde hair. I would have taken that movie star in a hot minute, even covered in milkshake.

4. When Lily and Oliver started dating, finally!

If you didn’t ship them during the first episode, you’re not a true “Oilpop/Lilypop” fan. They are both obviously meant to be, and even made it work long distance in the end. AND Oliver broke the friend zone! Props to him.

5. When the Miley made up “The Bone Dance” to help her pass her test.

If you didn’t try to learn that song and dance with your friends while your mom video taped it so you could post it to Myspace or Facebook, you’re lying. And it also came in handy when you got to high school. Hello, A+ in anatomy. That was, without a doubt, the catchiest song of 2007.

6. When Oliver and Jackson invented the famous “Cheese Jerky”.

It was a total fluke accident when they clumsily knocked Oliver’s mom’s cheese onto Jackson’s dad’s jerky. But in return, they created something amazing. And the song just made it even better. I remember wanting some of that cheese jerky so bad. It was, "Freaky freaky fresh". Now I realize that it was literally Rico’s cheese dip with some ordinary beef jerky poured on top. Such a disappointment. But I hope you’re singing the song right now in your head.

7. When Selena Gomez guest starred as Hannah’s rival.

Don’t act like you didn’t get excited when you saw stars from your fav t.v. shows collide together. And Hannah and “Mikayla” were so salty to each other you couldn’t help but love it! My favorite roast “Mikayla” threw at Hannah was, “Miss Hannah, I’m taking all of your fannas”. She was the original Queen of sass.

8. When the Jonas Brothers showed up on Hannah Montana.

I have no shame in admitting that I was a serious, “JoBro” fan (Joe being my fav). Seeing them perform with Miley made my childhood, I kid you not. And the fact that the Jonas Brothers and Miley both acted so in shock to meet each other. It was enough to make my young heart melt, that’s for sure.

9. When Miley had the dream that she was never Miley.

A life where Jackson was a hermit and Lily was bff’s with Amber and Ashley. No thanks! Her life was SO much different, and it made you so thankful that she chose to live a double life. The best of both worlds really was better in the long run.

10. When Miley couldn’t choose between Jake or Jesse.

That was literally one of the most stressful moments of my 12 year old life. Jake was the gorgeous movie star but Jesse was the hot bad boy. Why couldn’t she just have the best of both boys!? In the end, I was content that she picked Jesse. There was too much history with Jake and it was time for her to move on. But like did they get married? Break up? Have triplets? I’m still hoping for a, “Where are they now” reunion.

11. Finally, when Miley told her secret to the whole world!

We all knew it was coming, but it was still a bittersweet moment. I can’t speak for everyone, but Hannah Montana was a large part of my childhood. I watched the show, listened to the music, and even got a little wisdom from it (mind you I was like 11). Having Miley tell the world and basically kill Hannah was sad. But I guess all good things have to come to an end.

Let us all be thankful for the time we had with Hannah and the catchy pop songs that we still sing to this day. Remember the show that let you live out your dream as a young pop-star and Miley as the innocent Hannah that we all know and love. As she once sang, “I’ll always remember you”. RIP to Hannah, Miley (I mean she’s practically a different person) and my childhood.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
