Netflix. Hulu. Amazon Prime. HBO Go. Maybe you use all of these. Maybe you use one. Maybe you use none and just watch regular old cable. It doesn’t matter. It’s safe to say if you’re reading this or if you don’t literally live under a rock, you watch TV shows. If you’re anything like me, you watch A LOT of TV shows. An obscene amount of TV shows that make you feel ashamed of yourself when people ask about your bad habits. But we’re not going to talk about the guilt and the wasted hours of your life today. Nope, not at all. Today we’re going to celebrate your poor choices.

I’m a Fiction major so whenever I read a book, I tend to get very emotionally attached to the characters. This is no different with TV shows and from what I’ve seen from The Walking Dead fandom lately, I know I’m not alone. Everyone loves getting to know characters and picking their favorites to compare with others. In fact, a couple months back on Facebook, a trend was going on where you posted 3 pictures of 3 characters who best described you as a person. I, of course, indulged in the task and loved seeing who everyone else picked. But often, I find myself thinking a lot more about the characters I wish I could be. The characters who hold all of the traits I want as a person. The characters I look up to (even though they might not be the best people). That’s why today I’m going to tell you the 10 TV show characters I wish I could be. If you enjoyed this and have a few characters you idolize as well, feel free to comment on this article! I’d love to get your opinions.

1. Santana Lopez

This one is just plain obvious. Santana is beautiful, physically fit, and a smooth singer, but she also had the biggest, sassiest mouth on the show, Glee. If you said one wrong thing, Santana would have at least twenty fiery insults prepared to ruin your life and self image. Now, I’m not necessarily saying I want to be mean or a bully, but I’d love to take a few hints from Santana when it comes to defending myself. Don’t make her go all Lima Heights on your a**.

2. Marshall Eriksen

How I Met Your Mother is my favorite TV show of all time (besides the series finale episode (we don’t talk about that) and my favorite character is Barney Stinson, but if I had to pick a character I strive to be, it’s Marshall. He is hilarious and he has an imaginative mind. He’s a strong family man. He works hard to make his dreams come true (he went through years and years of law school) and he supports his friends in whatever they do because he loves them. Though I carry a lot of these traits myself, I look up to him when I feel off track.

3. Miranda Bailey

Dr. Bailey is my favorite character from Grey’s Anatomy and she has the kind of confidence I want. She’s very “no nonsense”; she doesn’t put up with anyone’s BS. She’s often always right (a woman’s dream). She cares deeply about her patients but she never lets her emotions falter her knowledge of medicine. She’s a natural born leader and she often uses tough love to train doctors. Being a leader is often too much pressure for me so I’d love to have Bailey’s charisma.

4. Michael Scott

When I think about the character I’m most like from The Office, I think of Stanley Hudson. A fun family man who just so happens to hate everything about going to work (if that’s not me with my classes, I don’t know what is). But if I could be anyone from The Office it would be Michael Scott. I want to love work as much as he does. He cares about every single employee so much (even though he sometimes shows it in the worst way) and he is HILARIOUS. Offensive at times, but hilarious.

5. Leslie Knope

Leslie is the main character in Parks & Recreation for a reason. She’s a strong woman who fights for what she believes in and she plays a power role in her local government. She shows the passion for politics I think every government official needs. She makes me want to work as hard as I can for what I’m passionate about. She does not take no for an answer.

6. Jessica Day

Jessica Day is the main character in New Girl. She is known for being very weird, unique, and quirky and that’s what I admire most about her. Regardless of what anyone says, she never changes. She encounters many people throughout the show who just don’t understand her and think she’s crazy but she doesn’t care. She is happy to be who she is and I wish I could be the same way. I tend to censor myself around strangers but she never does.

7. Blair Waldorf

Well, well, well. Looks like Queen B showed up on my list. It’s no wonder why. Blair is the queen of Constance Billard School for Girls. She knows exactly what she wants and she’ll never settle for anything less. She knows she’s worth it. Her style is impeccable; she’s always ahead of the trends. Everyone in New York knows who she is and fears her, but she’s also kind. She’s selfless for her friends. Ultimately, she’s always the center of attention and she loves being in a power role. Until next time… XOXO, Gossip Girl

8. Spencer Hastings

Spencer Hastings is one of five main characters in the show, Pretty Little Liars. Pretty Little Liars is jammed pack with suspense, mystery, violence and death. It’s up to the five girls to figure out who their tormenter, A, is. If you pay enough attention, you’ll notice that each of these girls fulfill a certain role. Spencer is the brains. Every time they concoct a plan, Spencer is the one orchestrating it. She’s super smart, organized, rational and she loves her friends. Spencer is my favorite character and I wish I could be as intelligent as she is.

9. Thad Castle

Thad Castle is the linebacker for the Blue Mountain State football in a show with the same title. He is known for being a drinker/drug user, a man slut and for being an absolute idiot. The two good qualities we can draw for him, though, are his humor and his loyalty for his team. Every time I laugh watching Blue Mountain State, it’s because of Thad. He is so funny. He also does anything he can to win (even if it’s wrong) and he’s a big pusher and motivator for the other players to do their best. I want to be as funny as him and I also want to serve as a motivator for my friends.

10. Fiona Goode

Last but never least, is the Supreme herself. Fiona Goode was a witch in American Horror Story: Coven. She was the leader of all the witches and had the ultimate power. She is very much like Blair Waldorf except magical. She wants what she wants and if she doesn’t get it, somebody will suffer. I don’t want to hurt anyone like Fiona does, but I want people to take my wants and needs seriously. Everyone knows not to test Fiona because she will win.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
