All bookworms know that books are magic. They are our most precious possessions that we would never give up. Books transport us to new worlds, teach us new things, and stretch our minds and imaginations. Being a bookworm means that you are in a relationship with books that no one but a true book lover can understand.
1. You can never own too many books.
There is no way you could ever own too many books. People are shocked at the amount of books you have, and even though you constantly run out of shelf-space, you can never bring yourself to part with a book.
2. You will stay up all night to finish a book.
When you start to read a book, you can not put it down. Even though you tell yourself you will only read one more chapter, you end up reading all night and feel no shame.
3. There is nothing better than going to the bookstore.
Bookstores are your safe place. Going to the bookstore will make you happy no matter what. You love the smell of the books when you enter, and once you're inside, you never want to leave.
4. Even though you already have a long list of books to read, you always buy more.
You create a list of books that you want to read, and it never stops growing. You tell yourself that you will not get anymore books until you finish your to-read stack, but you know that is just a lie and your list will continue to grow.
5. You become emotionally attached to your books.
When you read a book, you become emotionally attached, sometimes too much, to it. When a character dies you enter a deep depression that no one can understand. And when you finish a good book you need alone time to deal with the separation anxiety.
6. You prefer the fictional characters in your books to real people.
You form relationships with the characters in your books. They become your best friends, and when you are forced to interact with real people, you find yourself longing to be with your fictional characters.
7. You become protective of your favorite book when they turn it into a movie.
When you hear your favorite book is going to be turned into a movie, you automatically become the overprotective parent of the book. No one could ever portray your favorite characters, and you know that parts of the book will be changed in the movie. And you dread the people that become obsessed with the movie, but have never read the book.
8. Anyone who ruins the ending of a book automatically is an enemy.
People who spoil the end of books are a special group of people. They are the enemies of book lovers everywhere, and are avoided at all costs. But when someone ends up ruining a book for you, you know that was the last time that you will ever speak to them.
9. You own multiple copies of the same book.
It is not uncommon for you to have more than one copy of a book. Sometimes you get a new book when your old one is falling apart. Or sometimes someone gives you a special copy of your favorite book. Either way, you will never get rid of a copy of your book and amass a huge collection of the same book.
10. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than curling up with a good book.
Even at the end of a terrible day, nothing can make you feel better than sitting down with a good book.
