10 True Things About Long-Distance Friendships
Shelby Dix

After graduating from high school, it is normal for you and some of your friends to go to different colleges, but that does not mean that you have to grow apart from them. Sure, long distance friendships can be hard sometimes because you do not always get to see them whenever you want to but they can still be done. I am currently the only person who graduated from my high school at my school so I know the difficultly of maintaining long-distance friendships, but they are honestly my closest friendships. Here are a few things that people with long-distance friendships know to be true.

1. You can go weeks without talking to them but you pick up right where you left off when you talk to them again

It's crazy how weeks, even months, can go by where you do not talk to them, but when you finally do nothing has really changed. Sure they might have different stuff going on in their life but they are still the same person that you talked to a few weeks or months ago.

2. You hate how you can't always be there when they are going through a tough time

Even though you might talk to them on the phone or text them a lot it is still not the same as being able to see them in person. You especially want to be there when they are going through a tough time because who else is going to beat up the person at fault?

3. You love hearing about their college stories and sometimes wish that you could have been there with them

It is not like high school anymore where you are in all of their stories. In college they have new friends to make new memories with and you hate how you could not have made those memories with them. You are happy for them though and will offer long-distance support in everything they do.

4. Their college boyfriend/girlfriend does not get approval until you meet him/her

I don't even need to provide much of an explanation for this one. It is just true.

5. You have already made plans months in advance

You know each other's breaks from school and when they overlap you make sure to make plans to see each other. Plans can be anything from going to see a movie to getting food to watching Netflix You might plan a full schedule of stuff to do or you might just wing it. It doesn't matter as long as you get to spend time with them.

6. You start counting down the days until you get to see them next

The day you get to see them is written in your planner so whenever you look at it you get to see how much longer you have to wait until you finally get to see them again.

7. When you finally get to see them again it is like you were never away from them

It is no time has passed since you last saw them. You can talk for hours about anything and everything.

8. You always talk about the high school days even though you both might have not loved high school

High school probably had its ups and downs for the both of you but it is still where you made a lot of memories together so it always tends to be brought up. Sure you might tell some of the people that you meet at college some of your high school stories but it is not the same as talking about them to your high school friends who were actually there.

9. You hate when they have to leave again to go back to their college

It always seems like time goes by faster when you are with them than it does when you are doing something boring like studying. You know that you would have to say goodbye eventually but you still hate when that time comes.

10).You start making plans and counting down the days until you get to see them again

You know that it won't be long until that next break comes so why not start making plans to see them again now?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
