I continue to stand amazed at the amount of people that consider healthy eating to be boring. I mean granted, if you’re eating a grilled chicken salad at every meal, you’re bound to run to Cookout and stuff your face with fried foods out of total frustration. However, there are so many ways to spice up your menu in clean eating. I’m gonna introduce you to my top ten favorite ways to not want to give up on healthy living:
Zoodles
They’re kinda like pasta, but they’re made completely out of zucchini/squash/sweet potatoes. You can make spaghetti with them, you can make lasagna with them, you can make fettuccine with them. If you crave pasta as much as I do, this is a good way to fool your mind while keeping yourself from feeling bloated
Paleo Chocolate Ice Cream
The first month I did paleo a couple years back, I was sure that I could never find a recipe that would satisfy my chocolate ice cream craving. WRONG.1 frozen banana, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, a cup of almond milk. Blend. Life changed.
Cauliflower
Cauliflower is always one of those vegetables we ignore, am I right? However, if you’re a Japanese food or pizza lover like me, cauliflower is a saving grace. One of the best ways to steer away from the bloating feeling of too much fried rice or too much pizza is using cauliflower. Cauliflower rice and cauliflower pizza are two of the easiest recipes that will make your life so much better.
Larabars
One of my love languages is being able to look at the ingredients in something and know what all of them are. Larabars are sweetened with dates and contain only a few ingredients. They also come in a ton of cool flavors like pecan pie and banana bread. They go GR8 with morning coffee.
La Croix
One of the top no-no's of eating healthy is soda. But let’s face it, water can get boring. La Croix is made up of sparkling water and fruit. It definitely takes getting used to only natural sugar, but they make a perfect substitute for Coke. They also serve as a great drink to feature on your Instagram feed to make it look THAT much more artsy.
Kale
I included kale because it’s just awesome. Make sure you tear it off the stem (unless you like bitter vegetables), and then put it in your eggs. Put it on your pizza. Make kale chips. It makes everything a million times better.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil has so many different uses that it continues to blow me away. In cooking, it’s a perfect substitute for butter, and a great way to sauté any vegetable. It also is one of the best natural makeup removers.
“Brownie in a mug”
Who doesn’t crave brownies when they’re eating more carrots than an average rabbit? This easy recipe is the best way to treat yourself when you’re craving something sweet.
Lettuce wraps
If we all stopped eating bread, I think we’d be amazed at how much better we would feel. If you want to still feel like you’re eating a burger or a sandwich, using lettuce in place of bread is the perfect way to fool your mind
Harvest Snapea Crisps
These are currently my all time favorite snack. They are made with great ingredients, and they come in a variety of flavors. If you don’t like eating raw veggies all the time, I recommend these for a snack.
One of the best ways to get fit is replacing everyday habits like soda or potato chips with healthier versions. By making gradual adjustments, we do a good job at fooling our mind from thinking that anything has changed. Exchange chips for Harvest Snaps. Trade out butter for coconut oil. Grab a La Croix and let’s make a toast to clean eating, shall we?
