10 Thoughts You Will Have On a Road Trip

Driving for 18+ hours from Wisconsin to Texas with your four college best friends can be a very fun and exciting road trip, but there will definitely be a lot of thoughts running through your mind.

1. Are we there yet?

This car ride made me feel like a young child in the backseat as I would yell out "Are we there yet?!" every ten minutes.

2. I am beyond tired.

Driving straight through the night with no stops seemed like a good idea until we realized that we needed sleep more than we ever have before. It is important to have one passenger stay awake with the driver at all times just to keep everyone in the vehicle safe and sound.

3. Is there a Snapchat geofilter for this city?

I could not begin to count the amount of times that I grabbed my phone, logged onto Snapchat, and took a random picture just to see if there was a geofilter. And of course if there was, we all had to post it onto our Snapchat stories.

4. Is there a gas station anywhere near?

Chugging coffee at outrageous hours in the morning to help me stay awake did not benefit me when I was doing the potty dance in the car an hour later. The caffeine definitely helps keep everyone awake, but it also calls for more bathroom stops than we hoped for.

5. Could this car get anymore uncomfortable?

Just imagine sitting in one position for eighteen hours in a car full of five girls and their luggage for a weeks vacation. It doesn't sound too pleasant does it? Well I can assure you that it isn't! My back and booty were aching and breaking by the time I got to step out of that car.

6. Haven't we been driving for like twelve days?

The anticipation to get to your final destination makes time crawl like you would not believe.

7. The radio plays the same songs over and over.

Realizing your brand new AUX cord does not work which means you can't listen to the fire playlist that was made just for the car ride is such a disappointment. Most radio stations are either nothing but static or they are playing commercials. And the worst part is, the same songs play over and over and over.

8. I hope the hotel beds are comfortable.

All I could do was imagine laying on a fluffy, king sized hotel bed the minute that we walked into our new room for the next week.

9. What's that smell?

You never know if someone in the car cut the cheese and won't own up to it, if there is a skunk nearby, or if there is some sort of factory that is smelling up the entire car.

10. BEACH! BEACH! BEACH!

In the back of your mind, you know that sooner or later you will make it to your final destination. In my case it was the beach! Picturing myself laying on the white sandy beach next to my best friends while the waves are crashing and the sun is beating down on our skin was something I could not resist. (And of course the hot Texas boys!!)

Never pass up any chance you get to travel and take a road trip with your friends, but be ready for all of the random thoughts that will be running through your mind!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
