There is a special place in my heart for being stuck in a 60-minute traffic jam. You're still trying to get to work on time, while also trying really hard to not let this rocky start of your day ruin the rest of it. Between elaborate construction work, car accidents and inadequate drivers on the streets, traffic can become more than just a part of your daily routine -- it becomes an event. Sometimes, traffic doesn't even make sense when there aren't any road detours or accidents. Here are a few of the thoughts that race through my mind when facing the wrath of traffic jams:
1. When you're trying to get out of your neighborhood to start your journey but nobody lets you pass
2. When cars pass you going 70mph+ on a residential street
3. But then drive 30mph on the expressway
4. When you've been waiting in a never-ending line at a four way stop and it's finally your turn but you get skipped
5. When the light is green but you can't move because the street is backed up so you're kind of just stuck there
6. When the turning lane light finally turns green but the car in front of you is distracted so you're frantically waiting for them to wake up
7. And by the time they noticed and finally moved forward, the light already turned red again
8. Or when you're in a merging lane but the lanes already joined, yet the car in front of you is still driving all the way on the right side
9. And when it's been less than half a millisecond since the traffic light turned green but the car behind you is already beeping at you to move forward
10. Or when the car in front of you is continuously braking for absolutely no reason
Despite the rollercoaster of emotions you just went through for the past hour, you eventually make it to your destination in a cold sweat after spending an extra 15 minutes searching for parking. Nonetheless, you have arrived and are ready to start your day, even if you are 20 minutes late. So, don't let the road rage ruin your day, even if you do have to deal with it all over again tomorrow.
