Any true DIY fanatic will know that no good craft will come without a slew of crazy thoughts preceding it, and these are really only a few.

1. “Oh, this looks so easy.”

You know things are probably going to go downhill real quick, but when your looking at the picture on Pinterest, you can’t help but think it’s going to be easy peasy.

2. “OK, so not that easy.”

You’ve clicked on the picture, read vaguely through the instructions, remembered that you are in no way a carpenter, and realized that this might not be all that easy.

3. “I definitely already have all these materials.”

Oh yes, you definitely have two gallons of paint, four packs of hot glue, and tube of glitter. These are essential crafting materials, at least that’s what you tell yourself while your walking to your craft drawers.

4. “I take it back, we’re going to the craft store.”

So you went to the check for materials, and even though you’ll barely admit it to yourself, this “inexpensive DIY” is about to cost you a pretty penny, but that’s okay! It’s all apart of the crafting experience. Definitely.

5. “I followed that step exactly where did I even go wrong?”

I feel like I’ve heard some sort of phrase before about the instructions never lying, but we both know that is just not true. There is no way you’re just that bad at crafting. The instructions are just wrong, plain and simple.

6. “You know what, I’m just gonna hot glue everything and add some glitter.”

There is nothing, I repeat, nothing, that can’t be fixed with some hot glue. It might not be a permanent fix, but for some amount of time, it’ll at least look fixed. Also, who doesn’t love a love a little glitter, or a lot of glitter, a lot of glitter is also good.

7. “It may be a mess, but it’s my mess.”

It might not have turned out beautiful, and it might not look exactly like the pictures, but you know what? You did it yourself, and you’re gonna love it. Yep, totally in love.

8. “Never mind, this is beautiful.”

The more you stare at it, the more you start to admire your own mistakes. They give it character, a little extra pizazz, at least that’s what you’re gonna tell yourself. It’s beautiful, no if, ands, or buts about it.

9. “I can’t believe I made this with my own two hands.”

Yep, you did that. Crazy, right? You can barely believe that you actually made something so beautiful, and honestly, so unique. I can guarantee you no one else is going to have a fake window and flower display covered in acrylic paint and three layers of glitter. Nope, that’s all you.

10. “OK, now what do I do with this?”

So you made it, and yes, of course it’s beautiful, but where exactly were you going to put it again? You honestly probably won’t quite be able to remember, and who’s to say really if it may or may not end up being a very interesting birthday present or Christmas gift somewhere on down the line.

In any case, you love crafting, and this thought process is just the only way you know how to go about things that are truly one of a kind. DIYers unite!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
