This past week, I was lucky enough to go to Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. It was like nothing else I've ever seen. The canyon is historical, endless, and a truly amazing sight to see, whether you love the outdoors or not.

Here are ten thoughts I had while traveling one of the most beautiful places in America:

1. "Woah. I've never seen something so beautiful."

Watching the sunrise was like no other sunrise. The sun creeps up and lights up the entire canyon from rim to rim.

2. "How big is this place?"

It quite literally just keeps going.

3. "I bet there's a scorpion under there."

Under every rock and nook you feel like there is something there. At least I was scared there would be. Better not put my hand too close.

4. "There is no way the Colorado River is that calm."

From way above, it looks so peaceful and serene, like a painting. But I won't be fooled.

5. "How did they get down there?"

Some people just climb down so leisurely. Like what? How? Please don't fall.

6. "This heat isn't that bad."

And it really isn't when you wake up at 5 A.M. Until you've walked your full 10K steps for the day in 3 hours and then 12 P.M. hits.

7. "Excuse me sir, please get out of my photo op."

Nobody cares if they're in your way, because they probably think you're in there way and everyone just wants to take in the beauty.

8. "There HAVE to be bathrooms around here."

The only way to stay hydrated is by drinking so much water.

9. "How can the Earth possibly be this wondrous?"

You can stand and stare all day and still not get tired of it. It's amazing and wonderful, and a place you should visit 100 times over.

10. "More and more and more please."

You can't do everything in one day, and you just want more and more of the Canyon.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
