Mock Con doesn't happen often. This week is going to be hectic and filled with people pulling it together at the last minute. Everyone loves the hours spent building floats and preparing for the weekend though, it's part of the experience.
1. Raid everyone's closet for the perfect Lee Chapel attire.
It is midway through the year, and all your dresses have already been worn and documented with pictures on Facebook. So you raid all your friends closet to look for the perfect dress to wear.
2. Scramble at the last minute to put your float together.
Everyone has been talking about it, but no one has actually began to build the float. The fundraising is done and the design of the float has been discussed, but no one has began to put anything together. Make a list of things you need for supplies, and run around to Walmart.
3. Not do your homework.
This week is hectic, and the weekend is going to be so busy. And you definitely did not do any work on Super Bowl Sunday. Float-building and reading up on recent events are much more important to you than catching up on your reading for the night.
4. Register to vote.
You turned 18 years ago in high school, and you have put it off for too long. It's time. You open your computer and Google "how to register to vote".
5. Actually read The Skimm articles you signed up for.
You haven't been able to keep up with the most recent events, so last minute, you scramble and try to get as caught up as you can so you know what all the speeches are talking about.
6. Answer 8,000 questions that your parents are asking.
Your parents are eager to hear about all the upcoming events, and your mom will not stop calling you. Every alumni from your hometown have been asking your mom to ask you all these questions. They are reminiscing about their experiences.
7. Wearing and buying all your Mock Con memorabilia.
Just "swipe it home." You are buying as many shirts and hats as you can, and immediately wearing the day after. Everyone is sporting their delegation.
8. Not go to class.
No point. This is technically a week-long event, not just a weekend event. Plus, no class on Friday, and you are going to go out Wednesday night. It is basically a week-long break.
9. Find clothes to wear for your delegation.
Guam? Buy a cute bikini. Hawaii? Find a Hawaiian shirt.
10. Go out Thursday night. Because no class Friday.
This is a long week and weekend of events. And you have to reduce your stress somehow. Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night. It is a marathon.
You made it, the weekend is finally here. The weekend will be a blur and then you'll be left on Sunday exhausted with a pile of homework.
