While some people are allergic to cats and others are afraid, my entire life I have grown up having cats as pets. I love them. We tried dogs, and to say the least, we are not "dog people". But growing up I noticed that there seems to be a huge misconception about cats, and for some reason, people think they are like dogs? No. Here are 10 things you should know before owning a cat:

1. They're Loyal

There isn't a night that my cat doesn't sleep on my bed… or take up half of it.

2. They're Easily Entertained

From a fidget spinner to a box, they're more than likely entertained by it. Cat toys? Forget it. My cats like q-tips and bread ties.

3. They're Afraid Of Cucumbers

See for yourself.

4. They're Actually Rather Sweet

Contrary to popular belief, cats are not satanic. As long as you give your cat attention and let them know that you love them, they should be fine.

5. No, They Don't Come When You Call Them

Stop saying your cat's name to get them to come your way. Sure, they may know it, but they won't come. Try clicking your tongue instead.

6. They Like Sunlight

Which means they will lay anywhere where there is a window. If you really want to get on their good side, put a nice blanket down or make a comfy spot for them. They will appreciate it.

7. They Are Picky

While some are not, if your cats are anything like mine, they will refuse certain foods… and beg for butter every time you get it out (yeah, one of my cats is obsessed with butter).

8. They Are Not As Happy As Dogs

They're still happy sometimes, but dogs are happy-go-lucky, and cats are just like, “I like you, but get away from me”.

9. Not Every Cat Will Lay On Your Lap

And that's okay. Some cats will appreciate your companionship from a distance, others will want to cuddle. It really depends.

10. Sometimes They Can Be Jerks

But I don't think my life would be the same if I didn't have my cat following me around (or into the bathroom every morning) and meowing constantly. They're tempermental, that's part of it.

Honestly, if you're considering getting a cat, you should also consider these 10 things. I love my cats to death and I am a "cat lady", but there is definitely a difference between allergic, afraid, and incompatible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
