Living with your significant other brings to light many things that would have been unknown otherwise. There are good consequences as well as the negatives that come with living with a significant other, and here are the ten that I can guarantee will happen
1. You've got a permanent buddy.
No matter what occurs in your day-to-day life, frustrations or happy situations, you always have someone to come home and talk to.
2. Sharing the burden of bills.
Bills are no fun and they often leave your wallet quite depleted. Having someone to split everything 50/50 is amazing. You find that you have more money to do things together as well as buy those new shoes you’ve been eyeing. Who doesn’t like saving money?
3. Chores become a dance party.
Turning on some tunes and doing boring repetitive housework makes the chore much more entertaining.
4. Cuddling is a must.
Every night, cuddling is an important routine in our relationship. When you don’t see your partner during the day, coming home and having time just to yourselves is very important as it raises confidence in your relationship and boosts overall happiness.
5. Grocery trips don't seem so bad.
Grocery trips with two allow the time to pass more quickly and it gives you an extra hand. I love to have company with me wherever I go, so having someone every time is amazing.
6. Learning to pick your battles.
Arguing is never fun, especially when you’re doing it ten times a day. Pick your battles. Sometimes letting something insignificant go can actually aid in healing a broken relationship. It feels as though you aren’t constantly picking. When you learn to let go of every little petty thing, you also develop good feelings. The positivity will benefit both parties!
7. Always having a second opinion.
Being in school and having someone to read that paper or read my articles or help me with my math homework or even what to wear for that day is so great. I know that I can count on my significant other to be that second opinion for me and vice versa. They may not get what you’re asking for 100% of the time, but just knowing that I have someone at home every day to ensure that what I am doing is right is awesome.
8. Compromise is key.
“Me time” is so important in a relationship where you live with your significant other. Some alone time will benefit everyone individually and, more importantly, it will allow your relationship to receive some benefit from this. Take the time to know yourself so that you can be more confident in who you are as a person.
10. Confirmation.
No relationship is perfect. Living with my significant other brought to light many conflicts of living. Working out our routine and establishing a home with my significant other brought us much closer. I now could not imagine my life without him. Moving in together has only confirmed that our apartment is a place I can call home, and I also consider him home. He is where my heart is and where I want to be. Living together is hard, but it can be really beneficial if you are in the right circumstances to do so. Happiness is key!
