We all have those days when we have a lot to do but we don't want to do anything. Here's a few ways to pass the time while not being totally unproductive.
1. Find an independent cinema near you and go watch something they’re showing.
Most indie cinemas show throwback films or indie films, so you’ll get a taste of something that isn’t mainstream.
2. Clean your vacuum cleaner.
I know this one’s weird, but I recently cleaned mine and was shocked at how dirty and dusty it was. It just doesn’t seem right that the machine that’s doing the cleaning is one of the nastiest things in your house.
3. Cut up and freeze those veggies at the back of the fridge that are about to go bad.
Save your money and clear some space for the good stuff.
4. Find some foreign films or TV shows on Netflix.
French movies in particular have really interesting plot twists that American ones just don’t have. I recommend Chocolat and Un peu, beaucoup, aveuglément (GIF is from Chocolat).
5. Call that person you’ve been meaning to call forever but never got around to.
6. Write a heartfelt happy birthday note to your friend on Facebook.
It means a lot when someone takes the time to reflect on their friendship with you.
7. Write a letter to your best friend(s).
There’s nothing more exciting than checking the mail after work and reading handwritten pages that someone actually folded, stamped, and mailed.
8. Repot your plants and add some fertilizer.
They need fresh dirt and vitamins.
9. Declutter your desktop.
I don’t know if you’re one of those people that has a million folders, but it’s hard to find what you’re looking for that way.
10. Organize your under-the-sink cabinets.
I recently found an empty tampon box, a nearly empty bottle of shampoo, and two used toothbrushes, all headed for the trash.
