Calling all single birth children! Here is a list of a few things my "womb mate" and I can do without hearing from just about everyone we meet...

1. "Are you, like, nocturnal or identical!?"

I get that the initial shock of hearing there are two of me is exciting, and if we aren't standing next to each other this question is obvious to follow. But no, honey, it's not NOCTURNAL, it's FRATERNAL. I like to sleep at nighttime like everybody else, thank you.

2. "Who's smarter?"

Who's more athletic? Who's more *insert character trait here*? I wouldn't ask you this in comparison to any of your family members. We spend our whole lives comparing ourselves to one another, so don't be "that guy" who asks a question like this. We are two entirely different people.

3. "Who's the favorite?"

Do you people who were born one at a time have parents who favor you over your siblings or vice versa? Probably not. But for the record, I'm pretty sure it's me...

4. "Do you ever fight?"

HA! Twins can be some of the two most opposite individuals in the world. Fraternal twins especially, we are no more genetically similar than you and your older brother or sister. Of course we fight, like any other pair of siblings. In fact, I'm pretty sure my sister's bent pinky finger is from when we got into a fist fight back in the womb.

5. "Who's older?"

Does one minute really make a difference? We are the same age, that's kind of the point...

6. "Since I invited you I have to invite your twin..."

I don't know who taught you this, but if you are only friends with me and not her, it's OK to not invite her everywhere we go. I swear she won't think you are rude! Spending time with our own friends gives us some much needed time apart.

7. "Do you have telepathy/Can you feel each other's pain?"

Though having twins is a miracle, we are not magical. Try punching her, I promise, I won't feel it.

.

8. "How do your parents do it!?"

Our parents have certainly had their hands full at times, but in other ways, they got away with two for the price of one. One birthday cake for the both of us, one Sweet 16, one graduation party... Sorry, Dad, but no, we won't be sharing a wedding date.

9. "SHOW ME A PICTURE!"

So sorry, I actually don't carry a wallet size of her graduation photo with me everywhere I go. You can try my mom or dad.

10. "I wish I had a twin."

We know you do. It's a built in best friend from before day one, and we wouldn't trade it for the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
