10 Things To Look Forward To In November

Surely, it's sad that the Halloween fun is over, but who's to say we don't have a bunch of things to look forward to this month? Here are 10 things that make November a month to be excited about after post-Halloween depression!

1. Thanksgiving.

It's the most obvious thing to be looking forward to in November, but we all love spending time with family, eating tons of delicious food, and getting a few days off from school!

2. Black Friday.

Every year stores seem to open earlier and earlier, and we all love the excitement of getting online at stores at 6 a.m. to get the latest and greatest gifts for great prices! Some words of advice to the Black Friday goers: Please shop safely! Chances are, you're hyped up on caffeine to survive through the late night/early morning hours. But no discounted sweater or half-priced TV is worth getting into a brawl over.

3. No-Shave November.

Beards, mustaches, 5 o'clock shadow -- we just can't get enough. Even though some won't admit it, we ladies love some scruff on our men!

4. Christmas Music and Decorations.

It begins. The aura of the holiday season is in the air. Christmas trees go up, houses are covered from top to bottom in lights, classic holiday movies are on TV, Christmas music is playing everywhere you go, and people in the happy and joyful holiday spirit are everywhere!

5. Scarves, Hats, and Gloves.

Winter accessory season has officially begun! Whether it's looking super cute in your new beanie, or getting to rock your favorite infinity scarf, it is not totally acceptable.

6. Fireplaces and Warmth.

Sitting by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa + a cozy blanket + and a good book = total euphoria. Suddenly, we seem to appreciate the feeling of warmth and simplicity a whole lot more during November.

7. Cuffing and Cuddling Season.

Because what could be better than some Netflix and chill on a cold November day?

8. National Peanut Butter Lovers Month.

Pretty self-explanatory, but peanut butter is probably one of the greatest things in the world. Be sure to eat tons of it this month in celebration!

9. Warm Winter Drinks.

Peppermint-flavored everything is now in effect! Hot cocoa, cappuccinos, tea, anything with delicious flavor that can be served piping hot to get rid of those winter chills.

10. The first snowfall of the year.

This could either be something to look forward to or something to dread. One cannot deny how beautiful the first snowfall is, light and majestic looking as it slowly falls from the sky.

Happy November, y'all! Be sure to indulge in all of the great things that happen during this month, and most importantly, stay warm!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
