Spring is just around the corner which means spring weather and a few weeks left of school. Hopefully by the first day of spring the weather will be full of warm air and beautiful skies, giving us the opportunity to go outside and enjoy the fresh smell of the changing season. With spring comes opportunity for new things and new adventures, so here’s a list of things to do in spring.
1. Find a new peak.
Hiking seems to be an activity that never gets old. There’s something about walking through the woods surrounded by all the sounds and smells of nature that is so refreshing, and spring is one of the best times to enjoy the outdoors. The temperature is just at the right spot and the birds are just returning, creating beautiful music all around us. So go out and find new hiking spots. Bring a lunch and hike to the top of a mountain with some friends. The view will make it all worth it. Check out your local and state parks to find a new place for an adventure.
2. Watch all the Oscar winning movies.
This is a fun activity to do on any rainy day. Rather than stay in your dorm bored out of your mind, grab some friends, grab some popcorn, and grab some award winning movies. You’ll have the opportunity to cry and laugh as you watch the movies that did better than all the rest.
3. Visit a local farmer’s market.
Although this can be done in other seasons, spring is always a good time to start “farmer’s market hopping." You can find a favorite one close to your school and continue to visit when the seasons change. Also, each season has different produce with spring providing strawberries, carrots, lettuce, cherries and more. Bring your friends along and buy some produce that can create a sweet treat or yummy salad. Just make sure to bring cash as most farmer’s markets cannot take cards.
4. Have an artsy day.
Sometimes when those “April shower” days make you stay inside, you got to get creative. Keep canvases, paint and brushes on hand for when those rainy days roll around. Painting is such a stress reliever and in the midst of large assignments and studying for exams, taking time for yourself is important. Grab some friends and spend an hour or two painting anything your heart desires.
5. Make a bird feeder.
Although this may seem like a craft made for a child, this can become a fun activity for any age. There are so many ways to create a bird feeder so do some research and grab the materials you need. Once the feeder’s complete, find a tree outside your dorm to hang it on. Then enjoy the beautiful noise of happy birds with full tummies.
6. Go to a baseball game or play baseball.
Sometimes baseball tickets can be expensive, but when they go on sale, you can usually snag a good deal. Baseball games are always fun to attend with friends even if you aren’t into sports. So go and cheer on a professional or local team. If you don’t want to pay to watch a game, grab some friends and go play it yourself! You don’t have to be good at playing in order to have great fun, great laughs and great memories!
7. Play in the rain.
Those rainy days don’t always have to be spent inside. Throw on some rain boots and a rain jacket and go play in the rain. Find your inner child again and jump in puddles or dance with some friends. You’ll create some memories that will last a lifetime.
8. Make tie-dyed t-shirts.
Spring is a time for arts and crafts. Tie-dyed t-shirts make an easy, fun activity for any level of art experience. Buy some plain white t-shirts or find some old ones. Buy some tie-dye from a craft store or find a recipe online. Make an event out of it and have your friends join in on a nice day outside. You’ll have a fun time making them and you’ll have a new piece of clothing to rock around campus.
9. Go berry picking.
Berry picking is a go to activity for any nice, spring day. Do your research in advance to see what berries you can pick when. And make sure to check prices as well because some berries can be more expensive than others. Have some fun with friends and split the cost of the berries you pick as you probably won’t eat them all yourself. Stop by the store on the way back from campus to pick up some ingredients for a sweet treat!
10. Find a flea market.
This is an activity that can cost little to nothing. Flea markets start up in the spring and can be fun to venture through. You don’t have to buy anything to have a good time observing all the unique and cool things you can find at a flea market. And if you want to do some shopping, you can discover some cool finds that are one-of-a-kind and can be good for dorm decor or anything in general.
Spring is a refreshing time and there’s so many things you can do to make it memorable. As you go through the last weeks of school, take some time to distress and have fun with friends.
