One of the things you many not know about me is that I was a theatre kid for five years. Even though people have different stereotypes of what they think being a theatre kid means — many of which are negative — having been a part of high school drama plays was one of the greatest things to have happened to me. I am proud of myself for this part of my life, irregardless of what others may say:
1. Being passionate about theatre.
Whether if it is being passionate about acting, sound, or set designs, we’re all passionate about one or more of these aspects.
2. The first type of theatre kid is loud and some might say bossy.
These are the ones you might see on TV as Rachel Berry.
3. The second kind of theater kid is more quiet and laid back.
This kind of theatre kid is usually seen working backstage or on the soundboard.
4. We don’t need alcohol to have fun.
5. Getting super excited when the cast list is posted.
6. We are familiar with Tennessee Williams and Stephen Sondheim.
7. ”He ran into my knife. He ran into my knife five times.”
8. We like getting dressed up into costume during inductions week.
9. Our favorite part of post-production —besides seeing all of our passion and determination resulting in a production — is the cast T-shirts with our names on them!
10. Watching DVDs of old musicals or cast shows when we need cheering up.
