10 Things That Happen When You See Your Best Friend For The First Time

Long distance relationships are hard. Especially with with your best friend. No one likes being away from the person you tell LITERALLY everything too. Shocking stories are just not the same to tell each other over text, phone or Skype, but we somehow manage. You can go weeks without talking to your long distance best friend and know things will be the exact same. You can also go months and months without seeing each other and pick up exactly where you left off when you finally do get to be reunited. These are just a few of the first things that happen when you finally see your BFF for the first time in a while.

1. Screaming, obviously - Even the quietest girls let out an excited squeal when they finally see their best friend for a long time. It's mandatory.

2. Hugging (also pretty obvious) - You're going to give your best friend the biggest hug ever like you haven't seen them in years... even if its only been a week.

3. Eating - Regardless of whether you meet up with your best friend at a restaurant/cafe or at a house, you're going to eat. While catching up on all of the gossip you're going to want snacks to indulge in.

4. Gossiping - As soon as you're done with the screaming and hugging you're going to probably get down to business, especially if it has been a long time since you two have seen each other. You're going to have to catch up on EVERYTHING that has happened, which can take hours so you pretty much have to start right away.

5. Drinking wine - Nothing accompanies catching up with your BFF better than a bottle of wine to split. Once you have that and the snacks you're pretty much golden.

6. Reminiscing on old memories - Seeing as you don't have recent memories of the two of you to laugh about at that moment, you're most likely going to laugh about the stupid things you've done together over the years.

7. Laughing until you cry - This is inevitable. Especially if you're reminiscing on old stories. You will end up laughing until your stomach hurts or you begin to cry if this person truly is your best friend.

8. Talking about food - Whether you're still snacking on whatever you brought for this reunion or not you're going to talk about food. Most likely something along the lines of how much you wish pasta didn't have carbs.

9. Talking about boys - You're going to talk about your boyfriend, you're friends boyfriend or you're latest hookup. Whatever is relevant in the boy world - it's going to be discussed.

10. Emotional moments - Especially once the wine starts to settle in things can start to get sentimental.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
