What is one thing everyone avoids doing: cleaning their room. But we all know it has to be done. Many things go through our mind from the start when we decide where to start to the frustration of knowing how much stuff you have. But there is the emotional departing of the things you get rid of.
Here is a list of thoughts that I had while cleaning my room.
1. "If you can dream it, you can do it."
Walt Disney is correct. I need to believe this task is achievable. I dream that my room will be clean one day so I can make sure it will be! Thank you for the encouragement Walt Disney!
2. "Let's get down to business."
Seriously, I may have had to sing myself the song to get me officially off my butt. There is no shame in it though.
3. "Look at this stuff, isn't it neat?"
Well, when I was cleaning I found a bunch of books, old gifts from high school friends and other things I completely forgot about. It was pretty awesome to find some of the things I was missing, including a special edition of "Aladdin."
4. "Let it go, let it go."
OK, who has trouble letting go of something even if they haven't seen that item in years? I know I do. But I definitely had to sing this one as I was parting ways with old clothes and old stuffed animals. Since I'm donating them, I hope whoever gets them loves them as much as I did. But I did let it go, especially because I'm a senior in college and hopefully moving out soon.
5. "Ugh.. Mom!"
This was me when I was trying to ask my mom where she wanted the clothes and bedding I am donating and she was nowhere to be found or not answering me. And then she reminds me to not forget to clean out my dresser when I already did that. Really though? Ugh....
6. "Leave me alone to die."
OK, so after a while, I got tired and really had no more motivation. I sat on my floor and truly felt like this. Like I should be left alone and not bother because my room will never be clean. I literally laid down and stayed there for over an hour and nothing got done. But eventually I realize I had to get up and do something. Or because I had to pee.
7. "Girl, we've got work to do."
There was so much stuff everywhere. I had a lot of work to do and it wasn't getting anywhere if I was sitting on my butt.
8. "You'd think a girl would learn."
You really think someone would learn to either get rid of old stuff or not collect so much stuff. Well, I guess not. But you can only hope someday... Possibly.
9. "No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true."
I am dreaming of a clean room. If I keep on dreaming, it will come true. My room will be clean. My wish of having a clean room will come true. It will. Some time.
10. "I don't care."
I don't care if my room isn't done. I don't care if I only got halfway done. I don't care if it took me hours to get that far. I will finish it tomorrow... Maybe.
