The holidays are a time for everyone to sit back, take time to relax, and really think about all they have to be thankful for. After having one of the mentally and physically toughest years of my life, I am taking some time to really appreciate and stop to think for all that I have to be grateful for in this beautiful life. Now's the time to say the "thank you's", give the extra hug & kiss, & really think about how lucky we all are. Here's my top 10 list of things and people that I am especially thankful for this holiday season, and really throughout the past year.

1. A warm home

Nothing beats coming home to a warm home. I am so blessed knowing I will always have a warm home to go home to.

2. My health

This year has tested my strength in this category, physically and emotionally, but questions are being answered and hopefully, within the coming year things will continue to go uphill.

3. A great job

I have been lucky enough to find amazing jobs that are so good about working around my schedule so I can have the most opportunity to work over break and make up for all of the funds I lost over the course of the first semester.

4. Food on my table every night

I have never had to wonder where my next meal is coming from, and that is something I have taken advantage of. I will never realize how lucky I actually am for never having to wonder or wish for a warm meal on my table.

5. The chance to get an education

No matter how many times I complain about school, I could never thank my parents enough for giving me an education.

6. Great friends

I have, hands down, some of the best friends who are always supportive and never let me down. I know they will be there whenever I need them, no matter what it is or what time of the day it is.

7. Supportive boyfriend

This is the boy who has been there through it all. It has not always been easy, but fighting through our issues and tough times is always worth it. I could never thank that boy enough for all of the support and love he has given over the past year and a half.

8. Family who is there through it all

I have the biggest and best family, there's never been a time where I have not felt an over pouring amount of support and love. Truly one of the best feelings!

9. Two beautiful sisters

No matter how often we fight, how many things we say. I wouldn't ask for anyone else. You two are the best & I know at the end of the day, we will always be there to help each other and always be there for one another.

10. MY PARENTS!

Well, I saved the best for last. These two humans have never let me down and have been nothing but blessings for the past eighteen, almost nineteen years. I could never put the words together to thank you two enough.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
