I have spent a majority of my life living in Maumee, Ohio. It is a small little town right outside Toledo, Ohio. It's a great place to live and explore. There are so many little things that represent this town and I want to share them.

1. The Maumee River

This river is the border between Maumee and Perrysburg. The water eventually travels all the way to Lake Erie. It the probably the most well known landmark in Maumee. It is a great place to fish.

2. The Maumee Indoor Theater

This iconic building is located near downtown. They show movies for a low price, host events and is the location for many plays put on by local schools. It is also the inspiration for one of the Maumee Snapchat filters.

3. Downtown

Downtown Maumee is small, but cute. There are so many different shops and restaurants to go to. During Christmastime, the entire downtown is decorated and it looks beautiful.

4. Sidecut Metropark

Located along the Maumee River, Sidecut Park has many attractions for people of all ages. There are trails to hike and bike on. There is a playground for children. In the winter, there is a large sledding hill for people to go down along with an outdoor ice skating rink.

5. The Shops at Fallen Timbers

This the main mall if you live in Maumee. It is a cute little outdoor mall with stores like American Eagle, Dillards, and Victoria's Secret.

6. Fallen Timbers Battlefield

Another park in Maumee is the Fallen Timbers Battlefield, the memorial site of 1794 Battle of Fallen Timbers. There's lots of history there and you mostly like went there for a field trip in grade school.

7. The Andersons

This local store is the perfect place to go buy food and other home items. Everyone knows where The Andersons is and probably know the family who lives in Toledo. But sadly, they will be closing their stores during the summer for good.

8. Maumee Sportsmall

Do you like mini-golf and baseball? I used to go here all the time to play mini-golf and use the batting cages.

9. Lucas County Fairgrounds

Home to the Lucas County Fair in July. It is also the location of the famous Rib-Off where local restaurants sell ribs and host concerts.

10. Wabash Cannonball Trail

This is a 63 mile bike and walking trail that goes through Maumee. It is paved and a beautiful walk that can take you to The Shops at Fallen Timbers or through small towns like Whitehouse, Ohio.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
