10 Things I Thank My Sister For
Baleigh Hill

Sis,

There is a never ending list of things you've taught me and things I am thankful for. I don't know if I'll ever actually get to thank you for all the things you have done, but here I am putting ten things you've done into writing.

1. Thank you for never giving up on me.

I know I'm a pain in the ass all the time. Thank you for never letting me quit, even when I was at my lowest.

2. Thank you for sticking up for me.

From that kid on the soccer team to the mean girl in high school, you always have my back.

3. Thank you for being my number one fan.

Every decision I've made or club I wanted to join, you rooted me on. You helped make student council signs when in 5th grade I wanted to be class president, just like you, and even let me copy some of your speech.

4. Thank you for convincing mom to let me go out with that one boy.

I know he was stupid and not worth it, but thank you for telling mom that I would be fine and he "isn't that bad, just let her go." Even though that relationship didn't work out, it was fun while it lasted.

5. Thank you for enduring all my games and recitals.

I know that you had better things to do than spend your weekends watching me twirl on stage, kick a ball, or pretend like I knew anything about basketball. Also, thank you for showing me how to actually punt a soccer ball and shoot a free throw.

6. Thank you for letting me be mad.

We aren't perfect. Sometimes I just had to take my anger out on someone. And that, was usually you. Sorry.

7. Thank you for always coming back.

Thank you for never leaving me behind and coming back for me, even when you couldn't stand anyone else.

8. Thank you for giving me a real friend.

Being a little sister isn't always fun. Thank you for letting me tag along with your friends and showing me what friendships should look like and being my best friend.

9. Thank you for teaching me confidence.

Let's be honest, I haven't always been confident, but you always let me know that who I am is who I'm supposed to be. You showed me how to rock my style and not be afraid of who I really am.

10. Thank you for being my sister.

I couldn't have done any of this without you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
