Okay, so being easy on the eyes would be nice, but when it comes down to it, who you are as a person is SOOOO much more important. If your looks depended on who you were and how you treated people, how would you look? Would you dread the person who looked back at you in the mirror, or embrace them? As someone who used to care a lot about what she looked like until the past two years, I can tell you that there are a ton of things I'd rather be than pretty. As the title states, here are ten things I'd rather be known for than pretty:

1. Funny. I know how hard things can be, and I love nothing more than someone who can make me smile or laugh until my stomach hurts, so if I can make even one person's day a little brighter, it would be worth it!

2. Good Advice. As someone who gets deep in the feels late at night while scrolling through Tumblr, I know what it's like when you're sad and REALLY need someone to talk to and just give you some life advice. I like to think I'm pretty bomb with advice, so giving someone a safe place and person to talk to would mean a lot.

3. Creative. I take pride in a lot of the work I create and being known for something that you love to do would obviously be a lot cooler than being known for how you look.

4. Known for the people I surround myself with. Your friends are a reflection of who you are as a person, and obviously you want to be known in a positive light. My friends and the people I choose to surround myself with are the best people I've ever met, so being associated with them is a gift.

5. Raw. I want to be known for being myself, and if I can't be genuinely 100% me, than whatever I'm doing isn't worth it.

6. Magnetic. I want to capture peoples attention and make them feel drawn to me. I have a lot to say, share, do, and create and I want people to be there with me while I do it.

7. Reckless. This is so cliche but life is so short. I have so many things I want to do, and so many opportunities I want to take. Take everything. This life is yours.

8. Philanthropic. I want to be able to give. I want to give in many ways, and some ways I haven't figured out yet. People have given me so much, and finding a way to give to others is something I struggle with and want to learn how to do better.

9. Observant. I get mistaken for being shy or quiet a lot, but I realize I take in a lot of things that other, louder people overlook. I listen, think, and process things more than others do sometimes.

10. Welcoming. I care a lot and want people to know that they have a place in my heart. I want them to feel welcomed no matter what, because I'm there to be a friend, not a judgmental force.

Strive to be more than just a pretty face. Strive to show the world who you are as a person. There's a lot of misconception and belief that beauty is one of the most important things in this world, which is just not true. Show people who you are and what you have to offer, make them see you for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
