Some people just aren't great at being touchy feely or feeling things. If this sounds like you, maybe you'll relate to the following ten things. Or maybe not because you suck at relating to things.

1. When one of your friends expresses emotion

Sometimes friends will let their guard down around you because they trust you and stuff. This will inevitably release an unexpected expression of emotions. In these situations you are ill equipped in comforting and reassuring them like a good friend should.

2. Awkward, and bad at hugging

Physical displays of affection have never been your strong suit. You never got the practice, so naturally you perform poorly in these situations.

3. Inappropriate emotions for certain situations

You hide behind a false display of security and chillness. When things get intense, for example at a funeral or wedding, you're not sure how to react or act. This can come out in inappropriate comments or laughing uncontrollably while holding hands as the Hawaiian minister chants something in the middle of a heart shaped rock circle.

4. Some see you as some alien

Most people have no problem being comfortable with their emotions and expressing them. Which is a big part of emotional intelligence. But just like how sometimes we can't understand these kinds of people, they will feel the same.

5. "I love you"

Vocal evidence that you can feel is uncomfortable

6. Being "too chill"

You don't get angry very often, or even annoyed. Detachment can result in a very "I don't care" attitude. This can be mistaken as you don't care about a person, or many can take advantage of your "too relaxed" demeanor.

7. Relating

To understand other people, it is crucial to have experience in empathizing and having the same emotions yourself.

8. Actual sincerity brings skepticism

Most of the back and forth between you and your friends are sarcastic, or insincere. So on the rare occasion you show a much more delicate and vulnerable side of yourself, people don't know how to react. Or your sincerity, can be mistaken for facetiousness or you mocking empaths.

9. You hide behind humor

You joke about everything as a comic relief to certain situations with emotional tension. It's also great for when asked a personal question you don't feel like answering. Humor can distract from the situation/feeling, which has blessed you with a great, yet sometimes dark sense of humor.

10. But you actually care a lot

Even though it doesn't seem like you care about people or anything at all, you love and care maybe even more than most. Some people will look beyond your cold and detached exterior and recognize the small gestures as your sneaky way of showing your appreciation. You can be cold and find some of the warmest people that will stick around. "I don't care about anything. Except the crippling weight of existing and everyone's opinions."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
