Just some tips on what not to ask if you're going to talk to someone about living in Los Angeles. We get them all the time and are kind of over answering.

1. "Cali"

It’s California. Not Cali. Saying Cali is weird.

2. Have you ever seen snow before?

Totally. I’ve gone on vacation before to places that snow. Also, there are mountains not too far outside of LA.

3. Have you ever met a celebrity?

I mean yeah, but it’s not that big of a deal. They're normal people, just more people know their name. People can meet celebrities in any city; LA just has them a little more often.

4. Do you go to the beach a lot?

Definitely not as much as you’d think, but I do have a weird obsession with being tan.

5. Why the heck did you ever leave?

I mean, I want to travel and experience other places in the world. People move out of their hometowns all the time. That’s not to say I won’t move back.

6. I could never deal with that much traffic

Honestly, yes, it’s bad. We complain and complain, but you just learn to deal with it. Other places have terrible traffic too.

7. Have you ever gone surfing?

Yeah, I’ve surfed before but I’m not that great. If you live by the beach why not try it out? Then again, not everyone is an LA surfer bro.

8. You must really like kale

It’s not my favorite but I don’t hate it either. It depends on the person, but kale is literally everywhere now, not just LA.

9. Have you ever done a juice cleanse?

Actually, yes. I really like pressed juice and I highly recommend everyone try it. Even Pressed Freeze is dank.

10. Do you live near Hollywood?

Nope. Hollywood isn’t the amazing, glamorous place everyone thinks it is. It’s kinda gross in my opinion, but West Hollywood I get down with.

So, take it from me. Look these so you don't have to ask and annoy another LA native again. And, yes, the west coast is the best coast.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
