Transitioning from high school into college can be a tough change.
Walking into my first day of college was totally different then high school. A bunch of new faces i've never seen and classrooms were in separate buildings scattered across campus.
College and high school are two totally different worlds and there are a lot of things you don't know about college.
1. You barely ever have any homework.
That sounds glorious, but really it is scary. Your grade will depend on papers, quizzes, and tests. MLA and APA format will become your new best friend. And there is a bunch of reading you have to do.
2. Coffee will become a dependency.
If you didn't like coffee in high school, that surely will change once you hit college. You will thrive off of it.
3. Your best work will be done at 2 a.m.
No matter how much time you have to write a paper, you probably wont do it till the night before its due.
4. No one cares in college.
If you want to go to class in your pajamas, cool. No one will say anything. In all honesty they're probably jealous that they're in jeans and not sweats.
5. You will be forced to take classes you don't "need."
Throughout the years you will have to take elective classes even if they don't pertain to your major. This can be annoying because you are wanting to jump right into your major classes but you gotta take these. The good thing about this though is that you can try something new, and maybe even like it!
6. Professors actually want you to pass.
Unlike some teachers in high school, your professors will actually try and encourage you to pass. They are actually understanding and sometimes can be lenient on certain papers or projects.
7. Naps are acceptable.
People will actually envy you if you have time to nap and they don't. You will find yourself taking naps halfway through the day and being completely fine with it.
8. All of your money will go to textbooks.
Textbook prices are ridiculous, so be smart about where you get them. Check online before purchasing from the bookstore.
9. Maintaining friendships will actually take a lot of effort.
You will become so busy with school and work that you will want to just veg out on the couch and do absolutely nothing. But you + your friends + wine = a night well spent.
10. It's not as bad and scary as everyone makes it out to be.
Yes, you will have those days where you just want to completely die, but in the end, it really isn't that bad. There are clubs for everything you can imagine, and you can do just about anything you want (just don't get too crazy).
