With less than a month 'til Christmas, it can be very easy to forget about all the other important holidays that happen in the weeks leading up: Winter Solstice, National Brownie Day, and of course the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, VSFS for short. Some may not call it a holiday, but with the immense amount of preparation and décor that go into it, I think it’s pretty hard to classify it as anything else. A religious follower of the show since 2013, when Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift rocked the stage in NYC, I, along with millions of men and women around the world, count down the days til the VS Angels grace us with their presence once again via our TV screens. It’s a mystical event really, something no other fashion show holds a candle to. For those who choose not to support Victoria’s Secret’s parading of scantily clad 6 ft women, I understand. The VSFS is not for the faint of heart. For those of you who will be tuning in for the first time ever Monday, December 5th at 10 pm est. on CBS, here are just a few of the things you can look forward to:
1. Lady Gaga
Ladies and gents, like I said this is no ordinary fashion show. It’s a freaking musical event. This year the show has booked the one and only Gaga to bless the stage with her presence and beautiful voice.
2. Paris
For those of you who have never seen a VSFS before, this year’s is kinda a big deal. For the first time, the show that normally takes place in NYC or London is happening in Paris. You may now allow your inner 12 year old self who’s always dreamed of seeing the Eiffel tower squeal til it’s heart’s content.
3. The Fantasy Bra
Sported by Jasmine Tookes this year, the fantasy bra is, I kid you not, a bra completely covered in over 9,000 gemstones, making it worth about 3 million dollars. Casual. Puts spending 45 bucks on one into perspective now doesn’t it?
4. Bruno Mars
That’s right, the music doesn’t stop at Lady Gaga. VS has also booked Bruno Mars to perform on the stage as the girls stride all around him. It’s the perfect opportunity to publicly express your constant desire to sing along to 24K Magic.
5. The Wardrobe
The attention to detail that is put into individually designing each and every look that walks the runway is mind-blowing. From the bodysuits down to the jewelry, everything is perfectly crafted and so aesthetically pleasing. On top of that, the apparel is all manicured to fit unique and creative themes. No two looks are ever the same. Now if only you could put that type of effort into your homework.
6. Not one but TWO Hadid sisters
This one falls into the “Name a more iconic duo” category. Not really much else can be said other than #sistergoals.
7. PINK
VS’s younger, but still equally as hot sister brand, PINK, has an entire section of the show dedicated to her. As college students, PINK is basically like our uniform. Leggings, sports bra, sweatshirts, there will be no shortage of those at the show either.
8. Wings
A personal favorite of mine. A good majority of the models walking in the show not only tread in lingerie and 8 inch heels, they also wear unique and what I can only assume are extremely heavy wings. The wings are all hand-crafted and designed to fit whatever the theme that portion of the show is. The entire time you watch it’ll probably be a series of “How is she doing that without falling over?!”
9. The Weeknd
Yep, there’s a third artist. I kid you not, this show is basically a televised concert in which all of your favorite artists come together and serenade you as your eyes remain fixated watching the pretty women through the screen.
10. Kendall Jenner
This social media queen and arguably one of the more popular Kardashians will be appearing in the show for her second year now. We can only hope that she’ll bring her A-list entourage with her again (Kanye, Kim, etc)
