I think at this point, most people are sick of hearing about the election. It's not that I don't care, believe me, I'm going to vote. I'm just so tired of the negativity that it is bringing to our country. The news and my social media are full of things that are about the election. Here are some things that you can do if you do not want to think about the election right now.

1. Here is a video of a squirrel.

It is by far my favorite video in the history of ever. Please watch it 12 times like I did. Makes me laugh every time I watch it.

2. Call your mom or dad.

Possibly even your grandparents. Call someone. Don't talk about politics. Ask them how their day is going and actually listen to their answer. It's amazing what happens if we ask questions to hear an answer.

3. Watch your favorite childhood memory.

Some of the nostalgic "I have nothing to worry about and I will never grow up" thoughts might slowly drift back allowing you to escape reality for 90 minutes.

4. Listen to some throwback music.

Again with the nostalgia. You should probably listen to a CD though otherwise, I guarantee that you'll hear a political commercial or five.

5. Take a walk.

You should find a park and a friend and take a walk. There might be a lot of stressful and horrible things happening in our country and our world but we have this beauty to admire. While you are there, pick up some trash so we can keep this world looking beautiful!

6. Read a book.

Such a traditional way to escape reality and still one of my favorite things to do when I need a break. Visit a book store or a library and find a new series to dive into.

7. Look up GIFs.

I promise you that you'll have a good laugh and you'll want to send a few to your friends and family. You'll also use all of your memory on your camera roll saving them for the perfect time to use them!

8. Watch "I told my kids I ate their Halloween candy" videos on YouTube.

So cruel, but this will also give you a good laugh and you'll spend a far too long watching them once you start.

9. Write a letter to someone.

It'll make their day because receiving a letter is so uncommon in today's society that it really shows an effort.

10. Take a deep breath, smile at strangers and be thankful that the election is almost over.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
