Having brothers can be quite the nuisance—I would know as I have two younger ones. Their boatloads of energy can be seen bouncing off the walls, and sometimes that can be too much to handle. However, having brothers can be a very rewarding and loving experience. They teach you lessons that carry with you throughout all aspects of your life. So next time you feel like you could punch your little bro in the face, remember how he has helped you to become the person you are today.
1. It's okay to get a little dirty.
Living with boys gets you accustomed to the occasional wrestling match or soccer game.
2. I can hold my own.
You have to have a strong voice to be heard in your household, and that translates into the real world.
3. It's easy to make any situation more fun.
Over the years, I've acquired the important skill of spontaneous game creation.
4. I have learned to be responsible much more early on.
As the oldest child in the house, I have become the automatic babysitter and always take the blame.
5. Letting go of grudges is a lot easier than keeping them.
It's much more fun to enjoy your time with friends and family rather than holding anything that happened in the past against them.
6. I never take myself too seriously.
It's more fun and even healthier to let yourself loose instead of holding back. If my brothers don't care what others think, why should I?
7. I am more empathetic and protective over other people's feelings.
As an older sister, I see when my brothers are upset and will try to cheer them up as best as I can. Now I pick up on my friend's emotions more easily, and it allows me to help them feel better as well.8. Teasing is second nature to me.
I've learned to withstand even the most mocking comments and acts through the intense years of training my brothers have put me through.
9. I understand that the littlest acts can make the biggest impact.
Assisting and surprising each other with kind acts brings us together.
10. I know that my brothers will always be there to help me.
If I have a bad day, I know who to fall back on.
