And All The Struggles That Come With It

As I was sitting at my desk wracking my brain on what to write, a couple ideas came to my head but I could not decide on one. Every day I face decisions like what to have for breakfast or what time I should set my alarm for and somehow each time I have trouble making up my mind. Being indecisive is a struggle, one I know a lot of people face but it affects other people more than others. That’s why this week I (eventually) decided to write about indecision and the struggles indecisive people face every day:

1.) Going out to dinner can bring some obstacles:

At restaurants you’re nearly always the last person ready to order because of your indecision. There’s always multiple things on the menu you could want, but what do you actually want? What are you in the mood for? What if you pick something that you’ve never had before and end up hating it? The other people at the table could practically starve before you’ve made your final decision, but you want to make sure you’ve picked the right food otherwise you’ll be kicking yourself for it later.

2.) Your indecisiveness can frustrate those around you:

Whether it’s asking people for help in decision making constantly or not making up your mind on what activity to do, others around you can be directly affected by your indecisiveness. Not knowing which movie to see or what food place to eat at is not a decision you want to make because, well, you can’t even make the decision. You hope that because of your indecisiveness that the person you’re with takes control. Asking people for help in decisions makes you want to work on making decisions…. but you can’t make a decision if you want to or not.

3.) Deciding which Netflix show to start or continue is the ultimate struggle:

I know for me it is a constant struggle to decide what to watch on Netflix, especially if a lot of new titles were just released. I am currently on the second season of Marvel’s “Daredevil” but I haven’t watched it in forever. That’s because I can never decide on whether to watch that or watch something new. Every single time I decide on something new or to re-watch a show like Friends…. making up my mind is hard when it comes to Netflix, especially if I end up making a decision I know I shouldn’t have.

4.) Choosing something as your “favorite” thing is far from your favorite thing

All the time I find myself getting asked questions like, “What’s your favorite movie?” or “What’s your favorite tv show?” or any variation of the “favorites” question. For me it is impossible to choose because there are so many choices to choose from. I like the comedy in Deadpool but love the serious tone in Captain America: Civil War. Why must there have to be one favorite?! I love them both, okay?

5.) Choosing what to wear in the morning is for the decisive ones:

Looking in my closet there are just so many choices and it makes it almost impossible to get ready in the morning. I know I just wore this one dress two days ago but it’s so cute…but I also have those shorts that are cute…. you know it is not a big deal in the slightest but somehow in your mind it’s a big decision that has to be made.

6.) Shopping is hard, sending help is necessary:

This one piggybacks off of number five because it normally involves me picking which clothes to buy but also makes me think of whether I should buy the clothes at all. Should I spend my money on these clothes? Should I save it for food later in the week? Shouldn’t I treat myself? Do I treat myself too much??? It’s a cycle of questions before you get frustrated with yourself to the point where you’re in the store for far too long and still have not made a decision. Maybe someday you’ll make a decision….

7.) Not being able to decide if it’s really worth going back out once you’ve gotten home:

Most times this decision has to be made it’s when I’ve forgotten something I needed to get at the grocery store or when my friends have asked me to hang out. If I was already out and came home, the decision is hard to make. Do you want to put your pants back on? Is it worth changing out of your pajamas? Is it okay to go out in pajamas instead of real clothes? So many questions go through your head and still you just cannot make a decision so a lot of the time you lay on your bed contemplating everything.

8.) Titling anything will be the death of you:

Whenever I write a paper or a blog post I have to give it a title, but I never know what to title it. I’d like to say I’m a creative person so I like to put thought into my titles so I can make them either funny or outside the box. In general, though, titling anything takes so much time because I want to find the perfect words to describe it, so deciding on that takes what feels like years. Decisions, decisions…and I can’t make them.

9.) Putting a subject on emails trips you up every time:

I may be the only person who has this trouble, but every single time I write an email to somebody I cannot seem to write a subject. Maybe it relates to the whole titling thing, as literally anything that needs a title is the worst to me. I just don’t know what to put in that box…. like, can’t I just send what I need to say?

10.) Deciding on exactly what to say is sometimes just too difficult:

In general, I don’t know what I want to say, so I have to think long and hard about it. Whether it’s a text or face to face, I always need to decide on the write words to say. If I’m thoughtful about it I can usually decide pretty quickly, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a struggle. I never know if what I say will be taken the way I want it to, so I have to decide quickly and consciously. It’s not easy, but I can do it.

Being indecisive is an obstacle in my life that I have to conquer daily, but I know if I breathe and just think clearly a decision will come

…. eventually.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
