10 Things To Do In The Beautiful Weather

With the advent of March and the return of warm weather, it's time to spend more time outdoors and appreciate our beautiful campus and city. This spring weather makes everyone happier, so grab some friends and enjoy the sunshine with some things to do:

1. Take a walk.

Whether it's with friends, while talking to family on the phone, or while listening to music, walking outside in the sunshine can eliminate stress. The outdoors are beautiful, especially in this weather, and there are many places on and off campus to explore.

2. Go to the park.

Piedmont Park is just a short walk away, and it is absolutely stunning. It reminds me a lot of Central Park purely from its magnitude. There are always events going on and things to do (rollerblading, anyone?).

3. Play Frisbee with friends.

Personally, I love tossing a Frisbee around with friends on a gorgeous day because it is a carefree and mindless activity that still allows you to talk with your friends and get fresh air.

4. Eno.

Grab your Eno, or steal a friend's, and find a good tree. Study or take a nap, and you won't regret it.

5. Give out high-fives.

High-five Fridays are my favorite. If you walk past Skiles on Fridays, students will be there giving high-fives to any passerby because it's the end of the week, and that's something to be thankful for. Join the group or start your own and spread some happiness with high-fives.

6. Draw on the sidewalks.

Go to the store and invest in some sidewalk chalk, because there are sidewalks everywhere that could use a little sprucing up.

7. Explore the city.

There are so many restaurants, stores, concerts, and other events happening in Atlanta all the time. Take advantage of these opportunities and spend a day in the city exploring.

8. Study.

Even if you're overwhelmed by your homework, changing your environment to the outdoors can be the perfect solution to getting work done. There are plenty of places on campus that offer outdoor seating and tables, and who doesn't love natural sunlight?

9. Host a picnic.

Take some food from the dining hall or pack sandwiches and eat outside. Eating on a blanket in the grass somehow makes meals taste better.

10. Take pictures.

What's a better way to appreciate the outdoors than to document its beauty for you to look at again later? Whenever I see a notable tree or whenever the sky looks exceptionally gorgeous, I snap some pictures. If you want to experience the outdoors, explore campus and bring your camera.

With all the things you can do, there's no reason to stay indoors rather than appreciate the sunshine! Go outside, and enjoy the spring weather.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
