So we all know that around November and December the weather starts to get colder which means winter time. During the winter, it can be difficult to find dates to do with your significant other or even friends. Personally, it is my favorite season so anything outside I enjoy but that is not the way for everyone. Whether you are an inside or an outside person there are things for everyone to enjoy. Here is a list of 10 different things that aren't so pricey but still enjoyable.

1) Christmas movie marathon:

During this, you can snuggle up with matching PJs (if both agree or you can just force them into it) and make a list of movies both want to watch. Take a day off and just lounge around drinking hot chocolate and watch holiday movies.

2) Ice Skating:

Unless you grew up around ice skating or have amazing balance you will fall a couple times doing this but that is what makes it more enjoyable. Ice skating is a cheaper less expensive date for a couple or even friends to go an enjoy. Get a group of friends or your significant other and get going on the ice.

3) Gingerbread houses:

creating the perfect gingerbread house can be a hit or miss. Personally, it is a miss every time for me but I still enjoy trying. They are usually in sets which are better than trying to find every piece individually.

4) Baking cookies:

Cookies seem very simple and cliche but it can be very fun to the right people. Since it is closer to holidays there are more options for cookies to create. There are the ones that you can just separate and put in the oven OR you can actually take a step further and create them yourself. Find the ingredients and mix and just come up with random types of cookies together.

5) Decorate cookies:

This could be a little add-on to number 4. Sugar cookies are typically the go-to cookie when you think of decorating. With holiday cookie cutters and colored icing, it can be a fun little date that is not expensive.

6) Decorate/make an ornament:

With Christmas coming up an people getting Christmas trees it would be a cute idea to sit down and make a date night with creating ornaments to hang. Some people have little trees in their rooms and it would be cute to have an ornament made with your significant other.

7) Blanket Fort:

Being in high school or college you might feel old to make a blanket fort but why? Just because you grow up doesn't mean you have to not do things. Building a blanket fort can be super fun and timely.

8) Drive around looking at lights:

No matter where you live people put Christmas decorations up. Sometimes starting right after Halloween. Getting in a car and driving around looking at the Christmas lights playing music and drinking hot cocoa would be a perfect and less cold date night activity.

9) Snowball fight:

Unless you are like us in south Georgia where we rarely get snow this would be a fun date. Go out and make sure you are warm enough to stay for a little while in the cold. Depending on the texture and if it cold enough for the snow to stick, get on teams and have a snowball fight. You could make it to 2 people or even invite friends and family and make it a huge event at your house.

10) Go Christmas shopping:

We all have those people and that list that we either haven't started on or have no idea what to get someone until last minute. Get your friend or significant other and head to the mall or shopping center around you. Take a day and just try to knock out all the shopping and enjoy spending time with your person.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
