10 Things Democrats Are Sick Of Hearing

Election season brings about the worst in people. Whether it's believing ridiculous stereotypes or placing judgement on an entire group of people, we are all guilty of categorizing people based on their political party affiliation. Here are just a simple list of things Democrats are sick of hearing and hopefully this will clear up some generalizations and stereotypes.

1. Climate change isn't real.

Sorry to break it to you, but this is real. There is scientific evidence. Please view this link. By no way does this mean we are "tree huggers" rather that we understand the foot print we are leaving here is beyond irreplaceable and we need to lessen the size of it.

2. Free education is ridiculous.

Personally, I don't think this is completely reasonable; however, in a Utopian society education would be free, so why wouldn't we listen to any ideas to try to further that hope? In addition, in modern day society every well paying job needed to live comfortably requires a degree. So why is it so largely expected to have a degree if it puts you in debt? That doesn't seem fair.

3. We're pro abortion.

This has to be the most annoying. In no way, shape or form is this even slightly close to our beliefs. We support the right of choice not the right to kill. Personally, I feel as though any woman who is raped should have the freedom to choose what she wants to do with her body since it is just that, her body. Also, she shouldn't have to disclose why she is getting the abortion. That is an invasion of privacy. If your argument is "only a small amount of abortions are due to rape" then I challenge you this- how is that even testable? Do you stand outside of every abortion clinic asking each woman why she is getting this medical procedure? Interesting. Also, a very small amount of rapes are actually reported.

4. Clinton is going to jail.

Hardly the case. Honestly, we are all sick and tired of hearing about this. If we stop the slandering in both parties and get past the emails then maybe we could start focusing on issues. Such as how each candidate is going to tackle terrorism, education, medicare and the trillion dollar debt.

5. Bernie is a socialist.

Bernie Sanders is in fact a democratic-socialist and that is how he affiliates himself. I invite you to read up more on this affiliation and understand it because Democratic-Socialism is much different than Socialism.

6. We don't have a job.

Instead of addressing this head on, I will simply list a few famous democrats to prove my point. Here are a few: Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin Bacon, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, and Bill Nye. Or, my favorite, Bill Gates. Also it is well known that a lot of Bernie Sanders' supporters are college students- aka people looking for well paying, well educated job.

7. We are uneducated.

Interesting point. This really seems testable and I'm sure you have done lots of research on this. So, let me provide a simple statistic. "Democrats lead by 22 points (57%-35%) in leaned party identification among adults with post-graduate degrees." (source) By no way am I saying Republicans aren't educated, rather that Democrats are just as intelligent. Just because you disagree with someone's points does not mean they are uneducated.

8. Obama is the worst President.

A big fat opinion. I'm sure there are much worst Presidents in the past. Not saying Obama has been the best thing to hit the oval office, but you can't blame an entire political party for his doings. Not to mention, if you believe this or not, republicans actually voted for him too and guess what? He got TWO terms. Isn't that crazy? That means he wasn't elected once, but twice. Must have been doing something right.

9. We are weak on our foreign policy.

Just because we don't want to "make the sand glow" doesn't mean we don't have a strong plan for foreign policy. I do think we need to take more action against terrorist, but we don't need to be involved in as many countries that we are or have been involved in. Also, we need to cut military spending. Currently, 53 percent of our discretionary spending budget is going to military. Discretionary spending is the budget allotted to Congress to decide what they want to spend money on.

10. We want all guns banned.

Wrong. Absolutely wrong. What we want is for there to be stricter regulations. For example, military style guns need to be eliminated, background checks needs to be more thorough and loop holds, such as gun shows, needs to be closed and better regulated. Absolutely no one is taking away guns from law abiding, mentally sane citizens. So, you don't need to worry if you are such citizens, and you most certainly don't need to worry about the government taking guns from insane people.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
