10 Things I Definitely Was In A Past Life

A girl can dream, right?

10 Things I Definitely Was In A Past Life
Lindsay Terry

Last night, I went to a dance recital off campus to support a friend of mine who was in one of the dances. I love watching the dancers move gracefully and with such purpose across the stage. I took ballet when I was five years old, but other than that I have never dared to set foot on stage and try and show off my "moves." But, the more I watched the recital, the more I wanted to know how to move like the dancers did. After the show, I jokingly said to my friend, "I think maybe I was a dancer in the past life," to which she laughed in response. That right there is where the inspiration for this article came from. Here are ten things I most definitely think I was in a past life....

1. A Dancer.

The intro says it all. Next semester I'm going to join my friend in the beginner class of modern and jazz dance and test out the theory that I was a dancer in the past life.

2. A Trauma Surgeon.

This theory just stems from the fact that I love to watch all and any medical related shows, despite the fact that the sight of blood makes me faint.

3. The First Lady.

How cool would it be to be married to the POTUS? And live in the White House? I could definitely get used to having an indoor bowling alley, movie theatre, and pool in my massive mansion.

4. The Inventor of Soft Serve Ice Cream.

This one simply comes from my obsession with ice cream. I'd be honored to be remembered as the person who invented happiness that is served at ball games, small town shops, and the beach.

5. A Famous Actress.

Maybe I wouldn't necessarily be Marilyn Monroe, but, to be a famous actress who is remembered for decades after her death would be pretty fantastic.

6. The World's Best Chef.

I LOVE food and chef's are good at making food. So, that seems pretty logical.

7. A Spy for the FBI.

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I loved all the cool and unlikely gadgets they got to use, and was super impressed by the secret missions.

8. A Hardcore Rapper.

I have no idea where this one came from other than the fact that I have to listen to rap music when my brother and my boyfriend have the AUX cord while I'm driving.

9. A Grammy Award Winning Film Writer.

How awesome would it be to win a Grammy? That's not something you just tape on the refrigerator, that's something you put on the mantle above the fireplace my friends.

10. A British Nanny.

It would be awesome to have a British accent, and a never-ending purse, and a beautiful singing voice. Enough said.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
