My little sister and I are 3 years apart and while we are close, we do share many, many differences. We have our fights but we also have each others backs, and I'm sure we aren't the only sisters like this. So to all my older sisters out there, I'm sure you'll be able to relate.
1. When you get in a fight and a parent gets involved, you're always wrong.
"She's younger, you're supposed to be the mature one here." While that may be true, we all know we can't let the little sister win the fight.
2. You know exactly where your "missing" sweater is.
Probably on her body as we speak.
3. You get very creative when it comes to secret fighting with your parents around.
Nobody gets caught, nobody gets hurt (except the sister who loses the fight).
4. She tries leaving the house in clothes identical to yours just to get to you.
No no no, I'm not going matchy-matchy with my baby sister, but she won't change, so it looks like my perfect outfit must be saved for another day.
5. Her music drives you crazy.
No offense to Shawn Mendez, but once you hear "Stiches" 100 times on loop at max volume, you want to stitch up your ears.
6. Sharing everything because Mom bought it and said so.
I cannot describe to you the amount of screaming matches my sister and I have gotten into over a purse that we both wanted to use at the same time
7. Having to cancel plans to babysit.
Obviously now with a 14 year old sister I don't have to babysit but up until last year I did. Going to a movie with a cute boy? Oops just kidding, mom forgot to mention you had to babysit and its "ridiculous to pay for a babysitter when she's got a free one at home."
8. Becoming her personal chauffeur.
Once I got my license I drove her everywhere. Practice, school, movies with her little friends, you name it. And if I tried to refuse it was "well I wonder how who pays for your car would feel about this."
9. You learn the art of black mailing.
You've both been on both ends of it, and let me tell you, girls fight dirty. Whether it's secrets, embarrassing pictures, or even something as trivial as an embarrassing song you wrote back in fifth grade you can bet we used them against each other.
10. No matter how much you two fight, you always have each others backs.
She may drive me insane, but if someone else is trying to get to her you can bet I'll be right there with her helping her fight back.
I can honesty say all of the above are true but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world. It's part of having a sister, but it's all worth having her as a best friend for life.
