With summer in full swing, there's no doubt each and every one of you are hardcore jamming to whatever throwback tunes you have on your playlist. We all know them: those songs that never get old, the ones you had on repeat when you were younger. I do it, too. Because honestly, who ever gets tired of the songs that got us through puberty? Here's a list of 10 summer jams turning 10 this summer, according to Billboard.
1. "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland
I still dance to this song on the regular. Go ahead, judge me. Ten-year-old me had no idea what "promiscuous" even meant, but that didn't stop me from singing it at the top of my lungs. It's still on my playlist, too.
2. " Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira
When this song hit the scene, the whole U.S. population knew this Columbian singer's hips were telling God's honest truth. Let's face it, nobody can shake it like Shakira. I would end up with an injury if I tried to move like that.
3. "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley
"I remember when, I remember, I remember..." when this song came out, and I couldn't stop singing it. It was all over the radio, and even today, it's still relevant. We still hear it from time to time.
4. "Me & U" by Cassie
Here's another tune that's still on my playlist. This sultry song could be heard everywhere. Cassie knew what she was doing.
5. "It's Goin' Down" by Yung Joc
Two things: first, I still want the '69 Cutlass he's driving in the video. Second, I never figured out who Joc was meeting at the mall.
6. "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire feat. Krayzie Bone
If you didn't blast this song the first time you drove alone after getting your license, you haven't really lived.
7. "Buttons" by The Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dogg
I vividly remember singing along to this song when it first came out. I also remember the first time my mom heard me sing it. She quickly changed the radio station.
8. "Unfaithful" by Rihanna
This song always pulled the old heart strings just a bit. I may or may not be crying watching the video as we speak.
9. "Over My Head (Cable Car)" by The Fray
I love The Fray, I'll never stop loving The Fray. It's all because of this song.
10. "Snap Yo Fingers" by Lil Jon feat. E-40 & Sean Paul Of the YoungBloodZ
I kid you not, we danced to this song and many others by Lil Jon at my senior prom. No, I'm not joking. This is real life.
I'm sure all of these songs sound pretty familiar. If not, I have to wonder what you were doing with your life while the rest of the world was participating in this '06 jam session. If you're lost, please feel free to enjoy all of these videos. You won't regret this trip down memory lane.
