"Take summer classes," they said. "It'll be easy," they said.

About a month and a half ago, I made the educated decision to take a summer class as a way to receive few extra credits and make my way toward graduation just a tiny bit quicker. Back in the day, I thought this was a good idea. After making it through my first week of this summer course, I am facing some struggles that I didn’t think I would be facing.

1. Making it through the entire year, having a week break, and then jumping back into having to do school again.

I think the worst part of taking summer classes is knowing that you could have been done with classes for the summer, but you are choosing to get extra credits toward your college career.

2. Knowing all of your friends are not on the same struggle bus as you.

Seeing your friends enjoying their summer at the beach while you are stranded in a classroom is torture.

3. Lack in motivation.

Like I said, the worst part of summer classes is knowing that you could have been done with the year. By the time the spring semester comes to an end, all motivation is gone. Pushing through the lack in motivation is one of the toughest things to have to do during summer courses.

4. Waking up early.

Nothing is worse than having to wake up early in the summer for something other than the beach. Enough said.

5. The heat.

Walking across campus in the heat with a ton of books on your back is not fun.

6. Warm classrooms.

Luckily, air-conditioned rooms are, for the most part, the norm on college campuses. But sometimes, the air-conditioner is not set to a cool enough temperature. Sometimes, the air-conditioner is broken. Sometimes, you are forced into sitting through a multiple hour class while feeling as though you are melting.

7. Longer classes.

Due to the fact that summer sessions are a shorter amount of time than fall and spring sessions are, class periods are longer. Sometimes (most of the time), classes are boring enough only being a hour to an hour and a half. Let me tell you, they only get worse when they are three to four hours.

8. Homework.

Having to do homework during the summer is tough. Not only is it tough missing out on summer vacation while you are sitting in a classroom, it is tough missing out on summer vacation while you are sitting at the library trying to do homework and studying.

9. Wanting to work but struggling to find time.

Throughout this past school year, my bank account has suffered. It is so difficult knowing that you want to be making money but you have to attend class and leave time for completing assignments.

10. The never-ending cycle of exhaustion.

It is so hard to be fully energized when the mornings that you don’t have to wake up for your summer classes, you have to wake up to go to work. Not only does this exhaustion never end, you are forced into missing out on summer nights because of your desire to go to sleep early.

Although there are many struggles students face while taking summer classes, there is one huge advantage. You will be receiving more credits toward your college career, allowing yourself the opportunity to graduate quicker and pursue your dreams quicker. Although it may be a struggle to take a few summer classes, just think about how much it will benefit you in the future.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
