As we enter a new stage in our life, becoming an independent person isn’t necessarily easy to do and living in the dorms does not help either. We are used to home cooked meals, moms making our beds and doing our laundry and most importantly having our OWN room to go to when it gets too rough out there. Entering a huge university can definitely be intimidating and make you feel clueless. So here are just a few of the many struggles we all go through as a freshman.
1. Food.
Tired of ramen? Me too.
2. Laundry.
How do I work these machines? Can I mix colors and whites?
3. Personal space.
Can my roommate just not be here for 5 minutes?
4. Waking up for class.
Got stuck with those 8 a.m. classes? Even on a Friday? Wow, feels like high school all over again.
5. Keeping your room clean.
I don’t know what is worse, brushing my teeth and washing my dishes in the same sink or keeping my snacks on top of a dusty printer. Also, don’t forget about wearing shoes in the shower!
6. Money.
I forgot how many times I swiped my credit card this week. There’s a good chance I’m broke.
7. Books.
Actually buying your textbooks from the bookstore before classes even start only to find out you don’t even need them. There goes 300 dollars out the window.
8. Exercise.
Knowing your school has a huge rec center, but continuing to re-watch Friends on Netflix.
9. The Lanyard.
This is how every upperclassman knows you are new to the whole college thing.
10. The Freshman 15.
Let’s face it, those 15 pounds showed up faster than you thought.
