Skiing vacations are great: There's lots of snow everywhere, you're doing something active, and you get to hang out with your family while doing it. But there are some not-so-great sides to skiing, like getting ready to go out on the first day. In my family, it takes no less than two hours to get everyone out the door and on the slopes. It generally goes a little something like this:

1. An early bird, usually my mom, wakes up at 7 a.m. and decides that we're heading out early to get the fresh snow. They run up and down the stairs yelling, "Who wants to ski?" in the hopes that someone else will get up and go out with them. It never works.

2. About 30 minutes later, the rest of us roll out of bed, staticky hair and all, in an attempt to make the early bird just shut up.

3. Everyone begins to check their phones for data on snow and the temperature, with someone always declaring that it's too cold to ski right now and we should try in an hour when it warms up.

4. The slow march to gather your gear begins. If you're unlucky enough to have sisters roughly the same size as you, it's a fight to decide who wears which jacket and which ski pants are yours and which are theirs.

5. There's always one person who can't find their ski pants or their goggles or their helmet. There might be tears, there's always yelling and accusing family members, but it normally ends in a trip to Sports Authority.

6. After the layers have been piled on, it's time for the hard job: putting on your ski boots. The front hall is filled with grunts, yelps, and exclamations of "these didn't hurt this much last year!"

7. Once everyone is almost ready, one straggler walks out still sporting nothing but their long underwear.

8. After a few shouts of "you're not ready yet?" and "what have you been doing for the past hour?" they finally get their stuff together.

9. Now that everyone is fully dressed and ready to go, the mess of skis and poles that haven't been touched since last season are removed from the closet, normally by the youngest child.

10. Finally, when it seems like everything is done and your family has reached the ski lift, someone remembers that they forgot their ski pass. And the whole process is doomed to be repeated again tomorrow.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
