10 Stages Of Becoming A Big

A big part of sorority life is your sorority family. That moment when you discover your big's identity is precious, and receiving your little is equally magical, but both moments are a process; these are the 10 stages of becoming a big.

1. You feel excited on bid day.

There are so many new members! One out of all of these wonderful women is going to be your little, and you can't wait!

2. You nervously message new members.

When you Facebook message girls asking them to hang out, you read over your message several million times before sending it. Will they think you're cool? Will you come on too strong? Will you find a little?

3. You freak out over coffee.

On your first "date," all you can think is, Oh my god, could this girl be any cooler? She's the one. She has to be the one. Does she think I'm the one?

4. You fall in love.

This new member has to be one of the most amazing people you've ever met in your whole life, and you can't help but falling in sisterly love with her and hoping she feels the same way as you continue to hang out.

5. You have "third date" anxiety.

This is it. This is the last time you can hang out with this girl before you find out who your little will be. That's a lot of pressure!

6. You wait for a little news.

You nervously sit by the phone and wait for a call that will change the course of sorority history. Well, not really, but it sure feels like that at the time.

7. You get that little news.

You literally "can't even." There is no other explanation for the joy and excitement you feel. Your mind immediately starts racing with ideas for clue week and how to make your little love you as much as you love her in this moment.

8. You craft like mad.

Surrounded by canvases, covered in paint and glitter, and gluing fake gems to random items, you pull out all the stops to make amazing crafts. You want to ensure your little has the best clue week in the history of clue weeks!

9. You wait in agony during clue week.

You know who she is, but you're forced to keep your identity a secret, and it's so hard. You just want to run up to her and reveal yourself!

10. Finally, you hug her for the first time.

Finally, revelation rolls around, and you can finally drop your secret Facebook page and call her your little! You may be "basic," but you also couldn't be happier.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
