We've all felt it before. Something has happened and you're left feeling completely heartbroken, or broken as a whole. When I'm feeling this way, I tend to turn to music as a friend. Here are some songs that have helped me through some of my heartbreaks. Who knows, maybe we will have some of the same and if not, maybe some can help you as well.
1. "You Should Be Here" -- Cole Swindell
This song reminds me of a few people, and it never ceases to make me think. Yes, it's a very sad song and that in itself could have a heartbreaking meaning behind it, but I find that sometimes songs like this help. They help me explain my feelings. They put into words feelings that I cannot do so for myself.
2. "Open Up Your Eyes" -- Daughtry
There is a bit of a different meaning behind this song, but it's still a song I like. It's like you're finally free, no matter what has happened. You are free. You can finally heave a sigh of relief. Nobody is going to hurt you anymore; you are strong enough and you can keep going. That's the best way I can explain how this song helps me through heartbreak.
3. "Someday" -- Nickleback
I feel that this song also has similar aspects as the last, but in another sense it could be considered completely different. This song is strongly about how I'm going to make things right; maybe not now, but someday. All I can say is that sometimes when things happen, that is how I feel about my life. Sometimes all you can do is sit and watch your life shatter, and on a different day when you have the energy you will pick up the pieces and put them back together.
4. "Stitches" -- Shawn Mendes
When I listen to this song, I'm thinking about how broken I really feel. How much I still have left to overcome, and how much people really do leave marks on my life. This song tells the heartbreak, as well as the fighting to become OK again. I really like how this song puts it all into one. It's something that I actually find very helpful.
5. "Going Out Like That" -- Reba McEntire
This song reminds me how I should fight through things like this. Keep your chin up, and get through it. You will make it with or without anyone else. Just keep going. No matter what, it is this song always reminds me that no matter what you keep yourself confident. Even if you're hurt, you go out with your chin up and be the bigger person. You don't need anyone or anything to survive and you will be just fine.
6. "Black Tears" -- Jason Aldean
While this song may not be directly related to heartbreak, it is a song that I find helpful to me. It reminds me that sometimes everyone is that person, and some people just worse than others. When I hear this song I usually think about how trapped I feel in the place where I grew up, and it reminds me that I'm not the only person that feels this way.
7. "Cold As Stone" -- Lady Antebellum
The only way I can explain this song being relevant is that it's for those days where you just sit and watch your life shatter around you. You wish you couldn't feel it, or feel anything, because it all hurts and for even just a moment all you want is relief from that pain.
8. "Little Miss"-- Sugarland
This song reminds me to be strong, get tough, and I'll get through it. Sometimes things don't go your way, but eventually they will get better. You'll be OK and you'll make it through this. And one day you'll have a new start and things will be good again.
9. "Your Side Of The Bed" -- Little Big Town
This song usually helps me through a break up. It basically just asks all of the questions that run through my head while I'm in that situation. How you lay up at night unable to sleep just thinking about where, when and how things went wrong, and if you're thinking about the same things, or are you sleeping just fine?
10. "Not Over You" -- Gavin DeGraw
All I have to say about this song is that it describes me. I will always tell you I'm doing fine, whether it is true or not. I typically won't admit whether or not someone is on my mind or if I am over them or not. Typically when I am not OK, I tend to keep to myself and that is something that this song explains better than I do.
