The 10 Most Beautifully Tragic Taylor Swift Lyrics
Snapshot

We all know that the name Taylor Swift can evoke strong emotions from everyone; you either love her or hate her. For me it's love. I started listening to Taylor Swift when her first album came out and what drew me to her was not the genre of music she made (I was never into country music) and it wasn't how beautiful she was. What made me fall for Taylor Swift was her lyrics; her lyrics are like poetry.

Every time I listen to a song she has written I feel like she has crawled in my brain and written exactly how I feel. There is nothing like feeling alone and then having someone understand you. So I want to list the 13 most beautifully tragic lyrics Taylor Swift has written; her saddest lyrics, the ones that you hear and you feel so deep in your guts and your heart every word she is saying.

1. "You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray and I stood there loving you and wished them all away"

This is from Taylor Swift's self-titled album and the song "Cold As You." This line is incredibly poetic. This person was closed off putting up walls and gray represents the color of confusion; she was constantly confused but she loved him, flaws and all. She would wish the flaws away hoping one-day things would change.

2. "Could've loved you all my life if you hadn't left me waiting in the cold"

I'm not crying... YOU ARE! Anyway, this song is from Swift's second album "Fearless" and the song is called "You're Not Sorry." This lyric is so honest and hopeless. It sucks when you realize someone was not who you thought they were and you look back thinking how you could've loved them without even realizing who they were. In this line, Taylor realizes if this hadn't happened she would have kept loving him her whole life. Maybe I am crying... Moving on!

3. "My mistake I didn’t know to be in love you had to fight to have the upper hand"

I am sure everyone knows the song "White Horse" from the album "Fearless." I may or may nor have cried to this song in the bathtub when I dealt with my first heartbreak in the 8th grade. We dated for a whole day and then he broke up with me over text and just wanted to be friends. Oh to be young... Anyway, this lyric taught me that love is really, really hard. I always thought that you like someone, you date them, you fall in love the end. When I listened to this and heard this lyric I realized, just as Taylor Swift did, love takes work and sometimes people disappoint you but each relationship teaches you things for the next time. I wasn't in love with the boy who I dated for a day but I thought we would be eventually. Hm, wonder what he's up to now?

4. "You can plan for a change in weather and time but I never planned on you changing your mind"

Oh no, why am I doing this to myself. Probably not a good idea to write an article about super sad break-up lyrics when you're going through a break-up. Too late to turn back now, this lyric breaks my heart over and over every time I read it. This is from Taylor Swift's third album "Speak Now." The song is "Last Kiss" and it is extremely heartbreaking. The realization that you never thought this would happen but it has; not even in your wildest dreams could you think this person could leave.

5. "Flashback to the night when you said to me, nothing's going to change not for me and you. Back before I knew how much I had to lose"

From "Speak Now" this is "If This Was A Movie" and this lyric is very beautiful and sad. Sometimes you don't realize what you have until it's gone. Taylor Swift didn't know that things would change and she didn't even know what she had until suddenly it was gone, too late. No more happy ending.

6. "Time won't fly it's like I am paralyzed by it, I'd like to be my old self again but I am still trying to find it"

Here we go, the most emotional song that Taylor has ever made and my personal favorite "All Too Well" from "Red" this song is filled with so many beautifully tragic lyrics and a perfect bridge but this has to be one of my favorite lines. When you get out of a relationship after being in one for a while you have to find yourself again and everyone says things take time but time stands still for a while and you feel like it will never get better. Just go listen to this song and really let it sink in because I almost posted the whole song as my favorite lyric.

7. "You wear your best apology but I was there to watch you leave and all the times I let you in just for you to go again"

This song hits you and is sung with so much emotion that you think you're fine, but by the end of the song your face is leaking and everyone is staring at you because you forgot you were in public. "The Last Time" from the album "Red" is one of the most emotional and raw songs Taylor has ever made. I have been in an on-and-off, unhealthy relationship before and this lyric just about sums it up. The person comes and goes as they please and you watch them leave every time.

8. "In dreams, I meet you in warm conversations we both wake in lonely beds, different cities. And time is taking its sweet time erasing you. And you've got your demons and darling they all look like me"

"Sad Beautiful Tragic" off of the "Red" album is about a love that lost its way and is now gone. This song hits me right in the feels especially right now. This lyric is sung slowly and sadly and Taylor is trying to accept that its over but it is hard for her to let go. In this line they are both trying to get over one another it is difficult because they really loved each other. Her dreams are warm where they meet but when she wakes he isn't there and she feels lonely.

9. "Ten months sober I must admit just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it. Ten months older I won't give in, now that I'm clean I'm never gonna risk it"

"Clean" off of Taylor's fifth album "1989" is one of the most beautiful songs she has ever made. It completely sums up what it's like to move on from someone. This lyric is so completely perfect; when you move on from someone you still miss them but if they reach out to you, you won't reply because if you do you'll fall back into that same pattern. There were way more amazing lyrics from this song so go listen to it and it will change your life.

10. "In silent screams and wildest dreams I never dreamed of this"

In the song "This Love" from Swift's "1989" she explores a love that ended but then came back. This particular line is so beautiful because it compares him leaving to a silent scream which is impossible. She never imagined even in her wildest dreams that he would leave; she thought they would always be together. I feel like in a lot of break-ups you never see it coming and when it happens you feel so confused and lost, wondering what went wrong. Taylor goes through her sadness when he left and also how she feels when he comes back.

Oh Taylor, now that I am done writing this I will lay down and rethink every relationship I have ever had. The reason I love Taylor, other than her poetic lyrics, is because when you're listening to her songs you have to feel things. Her songs aren't mindless, you have to feel what she is saying. After a break-up, it takes me a week before I will listen to Taylor because I am not ready to feel all those feelings but once I do it feels so much better because I don't feel so alone.

So thank you, Taylor Swift, for your beautiful words and for making all of us feel a little less lonely! I love you!

Now I need to go lay down.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
