Maybe you think it's odd, but I would say my favorite of the five senses would be perhaps the least valuable: smell. There's something about a certain smell that is a memory trigger and a happiness booster that the other senses just don't quite have. Here are 10 senses in particular that will surely put you in a good mood!

1. Fresh Air

Perhaps the most basic but one of the best. It's the vanilla of scents: everyone likes it all of the time. It's nothing fancy, but brings a lot of joy regardless! There's nothing quite like opening your car windows on a warm and sunny day.

2. New Sneakers

It's hard to describe the satisfaction of buying a new pair of kicks, and the smell of them just adds to the experience. There's something about it that makes shoe inflation totally worth it.

3. Fabric Softener

Is there such thing as too much fabric softener? I don't care what size my laundry load is, I fill that thing allllllll the way up. And, ok, I'll admit it, I buy those scent boosters to add to it, too. Needless to say, I'm the laundry queen.

4. Burning Charcoal

There's something about burning charcoal that brings back memories from camping and BBQ's when I was little. On my bike ride home from class everyday, I pass a restaurant that has a rich aura of fiery charcoal. It's definitely a mood booster after a long day.

5. The Ocean

Ahhh, salty ocean scent. I wish I could bottle it up and bring it home with me. It makes uneven, gritty sand seem so much comfier when napping on my towel under the sun.

6. Pine Trees

Balsam just makes me feel like adventuring through some snowy mountains. I look forward to getting my Christmas tree with my dad every year when I go home!

7. Rain

Also a classic. There's no way to describe it. It's not sweet. It's not savory. It's just...rain scent.

8. Lavender

Lavender scented things are usually pretty great, but there's nothing like the real thing. Honestly, all flowers bring joy. Need I go on?

9. Wood Chips

This is a weird one, but if you know, you know. I've also been a camp counselor for the past two years, so I'm exposed to it a lot. It reminds me of my days swinging during recess as a kid and kids yelling, "you're married!!" when I would swing at the same exact pace as the person next to me.

10. Gasoline

The one we have all been waiting for! Everyone likes the smell of it, but nobody talks about it. Well, I'm here to tell you that you are not alone and the guy that sits next to you in Econ or the woman in the cubicle next to you likes it just as much as you do. Secret's out. Enjoy your waft or two, but, ya know, don't be inhaling this stuff on a daily basis. (For obvious reasons.)

Open your nostrils to the world and get a lil bit happier!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
