Everyone goes through multiple friendships in their lifetime. The friends you had in fifth grade likely aren't the people that you stayed friends with for the rest of your life. While it is nice to know lots of people and have several friends, there is something special about having a very best friend. Here’s a few sure signs that you have found your best friend.
1. You became close with this person in a matter of minutes.
You probably don’t even remember where you met them, whether it was a party, school, or at the gym, but after one conversation with that person your personalities seemed to click and nothing has changed since.
2. You have the same sense of humor.
You can laugh at anything and everything when you’re together, no matter what it is and you have inside jokes that no one besides you two will understand.
3. You rarely fight.
Even if you do it is very brief and you both end up laughing shortly afterwards because of how dumb it was thinking that you could ever stay mad at each other.
4. Your best friend will pick you over a guy in a second.
No guy comes in the middle of your friendship, which may not be the case with some of your other friends. How could you let someone so temporary ruin a friendship with someone who has never left your side?
5. No length of time will affect the friendship.
Whether you’ve just been really busy the past few weeks, went through a tough time, or even moved and went off to college, you and your best friend will still be the same person when you reunite. No amount of time or distance will change that.
6. A place to crash.
Whether something is going on at home or you need a place to stay after a night out, your best friend’s house is always your first option. They’ll sneak you in if they have to because they would risk getting in trouble to help you out.
7. A shoulder to cry on.
When you’re upset about anything your best friend will always be there to help you through it. Whether it is something serious, not so serious, or just a bad day, they will be there for you.
8. Meaningful advice.
Your best friend knows you better than anyone else, so why wouldn’t their advice be the most helpful? Plus, when listening to their advice you know it is genuine and they're not just telling you whatever you want to hear. They care about you and your well being, which means they will do their best to help you.
9. Some of the best times ever.
Some of the best moments of your life will be those spent with your best friends. Whether it’s a party or watching a Disney movie, times spent with your best friend are fun and memorable, which isn’t always the case when it comes to other friends.
10. They are someone you can trust.
A best friend is someone you can count on wholeheartedly. You never have to question their loyalty or intentions. They will keep your secrets and not judge you for anything you do because you two stick together through thick and thin.
