Star Wars has been a huge part of culture around the world. Personally, it has been a huge part of my life, despite my relatively young age. The first episode, A New Hope, was released May 25th, 1977. It was new and weird, but for some it resonated with audiences worldwide, and still does today.
But how can you tell that you are a Star Wars fan? What are the signs?
1. You know the proper order.
Episode IV, A New Hope, was the first movie. Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, was the last movie to be (at the time this article was written) released. Anyone who says otherwise is silly and doesn't know what they are talking about. And, if you are going to introduce someone to the series, you always know to start with Episode IV. You've re-watched the series more than once and not because someone made you, but because you enjoy it. Chances are, you might even own them
2. You know Mufasa is Darth Vader
Well, not Mufasa, but James Earl Jones, which is pretty much the same thing, right? He's also Eddie Murphy's dad in Coming to America.
3. You've talked like Yoda more than once.
Lie to yourself, you will not. I've done it, you've done it, your science teacher has done it. Speaking like Yoda is just as common as talking like a pirate. Common, it is. Speak like this for rest of the article, I will not.
4. You own a lightsaber.
You can't be a proper Jedi without one. Bonus points if you know what some of the colors mean, like blue, yellow and green. I bought mine while I was at Disney World and is blue.
5. You own any of the books or video games
I personally own a multitude of both. They are wonderful and some exist outside the realm of the movies. The one pictured above is what sent me into the Star Wars frenzy that I have recovered from yet.
6. Jar Jar Binks Never Happened
Amongst many fans, it is commonly believed that Jar Jar Binks was a mistake, and a mistake that tarnishes the first two of the prequels. Some can argue that the entire prequel trilogy was a mistake.
7. Luke, I am your. . . .
Sister? Brother? Long lost uncle? If you know that the answer is none of those, then you might be a fan. The actual line is "No, I am your father", but we all believe differently. Now, if you are scratching your head and calling me crazy, check it out and tell me I am wrong.
8. You can hum the title song in its entirety.
9. You are totally psyched about Episode VII.
Bonus point if you already have tickets. If you are like me, you know the actors and the characters they are playing already by heart. You may even have seen the trailer multiple times. I know I have.
10. Han Shot First
This is perhaps the cardinal rule of being a fan of Star Wars. If your immediate response to the question "Who shot first?" is not Han Solo:
If you exhibit more than one of these behaviors, then then chances of you being a fan are highly likely.
