10 Signs That Prove You're In A Sorority
Carly Bockhold

According to The Fraternity Advisor there are over 9 million Greek members nationally. I am a member of a sorority and have found it to be life changing. I always knew I wanted to go Greek because my mom was involved with it during her college years, but I wasn't sure I would find a group that would want me. After going through recruitment, I could never be happier with my home as an Alpha Delta Pi.

Also, anyone who has experienced Greek life knows that everyone has stereotypes for each sorority and fraternity. As a member of a sorority, I can publicly announce that none of them are true. Instead, there are 10 signs that show the world just type of person a sorority girl is.

1. You have to "throw what you know" everywhere you go.

This happens, literally everywhere. Even if you're in the grocery store or pumping gas. You are just so proud to call yourself a sorority girl, that you're not afraid to show it.

2. Whenever you see someone wearing your letters, you feel obligated to introduce yourself.

This not only makes you more proud to be a sorority girl, but it helps with networking during college and after you graduate.

3.You get so excited receiving new apparel.

4. You secretly love having to get dressed up for formal chapter.

You find it nice to climb out of bed, shower and actually make yourself presentable every Sunday night, even though others would think you dread it. I personally stroll around campus wearing my heels and pin, with my head held high, because I am so proud to be a sorority girl.

5. You have figured out the "sorority squat."

It takes a couple different events and some extra leg workouts, but once you get, you could pose for hours!

6. No one understands the love you have for your Little/Big.

No one will ever break the connection a Big has for her Little. Absolutely nothing. She loves her more than words can describe and would most likely take a bullet for her. A Little can always count on her Big for advice and honesty, even though she may not want to hear it.

7. It's not, "On Wednesdays, we wear pink!" It's, "On Wednesdays, we wear letters!"

It is a known fact that sorority girls wear their letters on Wednesdays.

8. You are constantly browsing through Pinterest to come across new craft ideas.

Instead of studying, you'll find yourself spending hours on end pinning all different kinds of crafts to make for your dorm room or your current/future little.

9. You volunteer more than you have in your entire life.

Some of this comes with your philanthropy, but you mostly want to volunteer because you want to help all kinds of people in every way possible. Sorority girls are all around good citizens and find it joyful to donate and help.

10. You have more best friends than you could ever have imagined.

After initiation, you become close with possibly 90 sisters. This means there is always someone who can make you laugh, to whom you can go for homework help or with whom you can cry. These girls will never let you down and will always be there for you, no matter what. They are your source of comfort and peace. They make college feel like it is your home away from home. They love you more than life itself. It is honestly one of the best feelings in the world.

Being in a sorority is one of the best decisions I have ever made. My college experience would be very different and boring if it wasn't for my ADPi family. Don't judge sorority girls just because of stereotypes. We all really do love each other!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
